There's really no harm in mixing the oil?!(depending on how your going to drive it?) But you will have to change it allot sooner than recommended, do to it being less thicker (which is good for the motor), and burning much faster (which is bad for the o2 sensors).
I'm curious about the experience. How long do you plan to drive it with that mixture? And are you going to do a report on it as well?

Oh snap! I just noticed the report.
I wonder how this will hold up, after a yr of continued use?

The previous reports listed are with straight TWS right? If so, it looks like you are not gaining anything by mixing the two oils together as all of the reports are very consistent.

People at BITOG have been mixing oils for quite a while, doubt this will be an issue. I also doubt a Blackstone report will show you anything worthwhile other than how much longer you can run your oil.

I filled it with 10-60 following this 50/50 mix.

Yes, always 10-60 previously. 127000 plus miles now.

If anything, what I was trying to gain was counteracting any "too thick" possibilities of the 10-60.

And the 0-40 is cheaper.

If we are looking mostly at lead and copper, I'm pleased. Lead is normal, copper is lower by half.

I filled it with 10-60 this time. Will the copper go back to 2? And would that mean anything at all? Who knows.

Looks like the mix is working well for you!

I doubt mixing the two oils will cause any problems, it just isn't optimal.

The GT-R guys are adding in 10w60 because they wanted higher temp protection for track use. Not the same issue as the bearing issues with the M3.

The key finding is that they run the cocktail with no issues. Oil analyses come back great.

That's a difficult question...
We saw reports with elevated levels of lead and copper ,bearings were pulled out and they looked really bad .
And when replacing the bearings.. are the new bearings better ,maybe even worse ? Only time will tell..
On the other hand we saw realy good Blackstone reports and engine blew after a while..
But also some with + 100K on it ! (2008) and still with perfect report , and that's the best part I saw ,and probably with perfect bearing/specs .
Personal I think when bearings/specs/tolerance is perfect when the S65 is leaving the German factory => this engine will never blown .
But this perfect situation => "vice versa" , and your S65 is predestined to blown ...
That's why I was saying on here .."The S65 is actualy a German lottery" !
So I need to end my comment on your question... with a question...
Who knows... ? Someone...?
