Its not like the M3 is a Ferrari or something. Its just a souped up 3 series. And since its the OP's daily driver it obviously needs to go wherever he goes. No need to rub salt in an open wound for something that was not the OP's fault.

You're preaching to the choir here. Mine is my daily also (it's the only car I own but not the only car I have access to). I don't idolize the car at all (I don't LOVE it like most people here). That said, I think OP should have been more careful. Taken the day off work perhaps. Simple as that. While I expressed my opinion which everyone seems to disagree with, I also tried to give the OP some hope so I don't think I'm some kind of asshole ripping OP a new one.

Nice way to back-pedal..

So now you guys want to switch to the topic of "idolizing these cars" well I assume since I was the only one on this thread that suggested having an alternate vehicle was a good idea..here is something to idolize..

How about not driving a car that has a bottom fed intake setup through a flood..naaah too much common sense there.

It's not backpedaling. It's the truth of the matter. Also, your reading comprehension sucks. Nobody said anything about "idealizing" anything.

To those that sympathize, thanks
To those that have a fleet of cars, can take off from work at will, and have multiple homes they can run to in bad weather, please count your blessings and I apologize for possibly ruing my 4 year old convertible, that based on many posts here is not a real M anyway.

For those who care, they have run two oil changes and cleaned the spark plugs, but the service rep seemed unclear on the status of the engine other than they need more time.

Geico has instructed them to remove the seats, remove and clean the carpets and replace the pad. Not sure why they would do that unless they felt the engine could be saved.

Since I Idolize the car (but obviously not enough) even she gets repaired, I'll just keep her for a few years so that resale value will not be an issue.

Will be interesting to run a carfax in six months and see what is reported.

That's odd, so basically they can't confirm if the engine is toast or not? ^

I don't think it's too much to ask to get the day off when there's a fuckin tropical storm, torrential downpours, and flash flooding.

OP, sounds like there's some hope!

This thread, in short

"I might have hydrolocked my engine."

"Sorry to hear that. Hope it works out," say the humans.

"You shouldn't have done that," say the finger-waggling armchair quarterbacks who either love stating the obvious (because I'm sure the OP wouldn't have experienced one moment of regret without their constructive nagging) or believe in time travel and find benefit in hashing over things we can just go back in time and prevent (and whose other car apparently is a tardis).

OP, please post updates. I'm especially interested in how Geico treats you. Hope it works out to the best result!

Good luck to the OP and I'm curious to see how this pans out. This is sort of the worst case scenario where the car is on the verge of being totaled.

This forum is apparently full of people that seem to have ready access to a soapbox to extol their view of the world - which of course is the only correct one.

It's rather silly to hear people say the M3 is the perfect all-around car and then turn around and become a critic of someone who used it as such. I don't think OP woke up in the morning and set out to see how much water his M3 could displace. This could've happened with any car.

It's the perfect all-around CAR, not an amphibious vehicle.

The latest new for nice people (other can lok away now, I am sure that there i somewhere else you can spew):

Despite repeated oil drains, the car still has water in the engine so the dealer has advised Geico that the engine needs to be rebuilt or replaced.

However, the dealer could not reach the adjuster, and by the end of the day Friday, his mailbox was full. Unfortunately, he was not a local, but an adjuster brought in from out of town to help and he had told me that he was going back to the west coast on Friday.

With the holiday, I will not know anything until Tuesday at the earliest...

If they total, I will have to start looking for another car. CPO M3 at top of my list, but budget is tight, so I may have to hold off for now. Nothing local M3 wise has any appeal (so few for sale).

Thanks for (mostly) the support
