Engine sound..

Now that it is getting colder out, I notice the engine sounding throatier under hard acceleration. Is it just me, or do other folks notice this? Love it, by the way.

Its not just you I'm noticing that aswell. We hit some low temperatures these past couple of weeks around 28F. When you drive the car for the first 15mins it drives rough and sounds very "crackly". I like it aswell

I wouldn't drive it hard until it is properly warmed up. Engines love cold air tho.

+1. Make sure that not you not only stay below the moving yellow tach line but that you also don't push it until the oil temp comes up at least part way (which usually lags the yellow line.)

I like how the engine idles rough for a minude when cold, then smooths out. Kinda like waking up...

Noticed it too, its stated in the manual that there would be a more metallic sound during cold startups. Picked up my M3 on Saturday and it did just that. Was worried until they showed me in the manual stating that it was normal.

I was in the hotel in Munich on the first night reading that. Pretty cool that they even put that in the manual. And, I went drinking the next night, after the jet lag wore off

Oh man, I was thinking on my drive home that I was going to make a thread about this. I love driving it even more in the colder weather now.

Well, colder weather for me is in the 60's. lol

With temps in the low 30's the car feels like it has another 50hp.
