take note that everything gets reset. my seats, mirrors, radio, and trip monitor were all reset once it was coded with the newest software. I IMMEDIATELY noticed a difference in the steering, the brakes, and the overall smoother pull in first gear when I floored it. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

I'm skeptical after reading the entire thread. Thanks.
RunFile003 and RunFile011 on the dyno chart on the first page are basically what you are looking for. My '08 had mods and slightly newer software but I didn't have any problems with the car.

Not sure if I missed it somewhere, but can anyone explain the differences in the amount of time it takes to upgrade to 231e? For example, most times I've read are 2-3 hours of programming at the dealer and as quick as 5 minutes (after a 35 minute read time) for a 231e update from a "tuner" company. Are some tuners only using 231e update on the DME and hence the quick times? If so, shouldn't all the modules be updated together to the latest software version rather than picking and choosing?

Thats my next step If only somebody could make them fast enough I wanted a fresh new ecu (with the 231E) so I wouldnt have to worry about losing the tune then having to do it again. Basically a clean slate. I have an exhaust going on soon, as well as springs, so I'm ready!

My dealer told me it took 2.5 hours, but they only charged me for an hour of labor since it was basically a "hook up, read, set and forget"--where they just left the car there while the program was "installing."

Not sure if that helps...just what my dealer told me.

The dealer is programming the whole car (tons of modules) because they have to. The tuner companies are only updating the DME. Also, the 30 min read time is not always necessary.

Yes, or even newer.

Depends on what specific options are chosen from your specific tuner. Dealers have specific methods of detecting tunes, but aren't on a witchhunt to void warranties at every possible opportunity.

Dealers want to get cars in and out as efficiently as possible. At the same time, keep a potential returning customer happy.

09/11 will likely have 200E or 220E if not updated recently. Those that have never been updated will notice the most drastic changes after updating.

Thanks. The car is immaculate and the foreman who did the update commented on how he was shocked it was on the original software. Shows the car has been well maintained.

Thanks as well. I am about to go pick up the car from being updated. I'll post with impressions.

Correct. Dealer cannot target specific modules, the entire vehicle must be updated. Autologic or those using the flash cables (VF, ESS or Evolve) can update using their flash methods if an aftermarket tune is desired.

If going the dealer route - depending on how far behind on updates you are will determine how much time is needed to update the vehicle.

We are equipped with autologic, the 231E update can be performed in about 30 minutes.

It's awesome. That and the brake feel were the two immediate things I noticed.

Just got the car back guys. Here are my quick impressions.
-The best way to describe it is more responsive. The car seems to be "jumpier" now and seems to get to red line a little quicker. Extra whp? No clue...i wouldn't even bother with a guess.

- As noted by someone the handling/steering does feel smoother. I was only able to go through the streets to get home from the dealer to alot of 1-2, 2-3 shifts didn't get into 4th much either..nothing over 60 yet.

- The software installed was actually a 2.32....which is the latest version of the software.

I have 190E on my car now. Does it make any difference to update to 231E?

Yes! Others have claimed a slight power increase as well as improvements in drivability.

231E has been out since at least Feburary 2012, there should no reason why not.

Yep, I think the latest is 243E now but I could be wrong about the number. Regardless, there is a newer version than 231E now.

You need to have someone with Autologic tell you. The dealer can also give you the integration level (I think that's what it's called?) but it's somewhat cryptic and doesn't tell you the version only the month and year of that software's release.
