Custom Exhaust Tips Project
After getting my one piece race test pipe/x-pipe combo a while back I found myself very happy with the results of that paired with the OEM muffler in terms of sound. Perfectly quiet below 3K RPM, but still letting you know its there, yet screaming at WOT. The only downside is that I didnt find the factory tips to be aggressive enough for the look I was going for so I started researching. I found a few options, but wasn't particularly crazy about the price of some or the look of others so I figured why not just create my own. These mate right up to the OEM muffler with rivets so no modification is required other than removing the factory ones.
Started with these nice single walled SS tips. Had them ceramic coated black which gave them a nice matte satin finish. Then I had them laser engraved with the M logo. Notice I had them partially engraved rather than going all the way to the bare metal. This was done on purpose because I didnt want the logo to be "blingy" or to draw too much attention. I wanted an aggressive, yet subdued look to them and this achieved that perfectly in my opinion. Finally, installed! Fit perfectly no issues and the exact look I was going for. What do you guys think? |

Looks great! When I had my OEM modded muffler I wanted to get the EAS extended tips and have them engraved. Ultimately I couldn't find anyone locally to do the engraving so I just ended up with a MPE...
Do share where you got those tips! I'd be willing to revisit the OEM muffler mod route if I can change the tips.

Looks great I'm glad you're making good use of the tips! They sat in my close for 2 years.
When I bought them from another member, he told me they are EAS tips. |

Wow. Very nice. I like it. If I wasn't able to refinish my MPE I may have considered something like this.
Well done!!!

If there is enough interest I'd say I can probably sell them with coating and laser engraving for about $300-$350. If I can source the tips abroad then maybe even less, but I wouldn't go through all the trouble unless there's a healthy number of interested folks.
I was toying with the idea of having the logo aligned horizontally on the side of the 2 outermost pipes and not on the tops, I think that might look really good too. Also, before people start getting upset, this is all theoretical and I'm not a shop or a business, not trying to cheat the vendor rules. If it makes sense to do that in the future then I would take any necessary steps per the rules. |

I would be but with the current exchange rate that's a lot of money for exhaust tips, not that Im criticizing what you're offering.

I used to think so too until I saw them installed, they completely change the look of the back of the car, much more beefy and aggressive. People regularly spend as much or more in small aesthetic mods and I think if you look at it as that then it starts to make a little more sense. They just look badass on the car.
