But the car does look beautiful. If it had a BMW logo with the same price I'm sure you all would be all over it.

They should just debadge them from factory and slap on some bmw and m badges looooool.

It looks like a complete mish-mash of styling cues from all the European marques. Look at the interior, the shifter/transmission area is an Audi ripoff, the climate control/radio remind me of BMW, the wood panel and logo are Bentley ripoffs. The exterior has a lot of BMW there, Audi in the Grill, Hoffmeister kink, etc...

Not saying it's a bad car, but as another poster commented it looks like they're trying way to hard with the wannabe styling.

I agree. Very little originality and a lot of BMW/Mercedes imitation.

slight change of topic but what we bmw fans need is for Mazda to up their game a little, they seem to be the only asian car mfg that cares about handling. so we would get legendary japanese reliability and good handling for a reasonable price.

Hyundai is a copycat, but I admit that some of their models look much better than the copied one. Like the Genesis Coupe, I like the style better than the G35.

I believe Ford ripped that off from Aston Martin.

I've said that since if first came out. Bentley should go after them.

To me, the general look of the dash borrows heavily from Mercedes Benz.

Wasn't really a rip off. If memory serves, the same guy that designed the AM also designed the Mondeo/Fushion.

The '14 Genesis looks like a carbon copy of the '14 Mazda 6 (from certain angles);

it's a hyundai. You can see ripoff all over it. I can't respect a knockoff manufacturer.

^ I don't respect 3 HPFP's going out either in 45K miles, but I still drive my E90.

To each their own. I actually got to check one of these out at the Chicago auto show and was extremely impressed.

They all copy each other. Are you telling me this isn't an amalgam of all the other Euro manufacturers? Audi headlights, Porsche taillights, Bentley-esque coupe shape. the same pentagonal grille that Mazda, Acura, and so many other brands are now using?

We all want unique cars, but manufacturers have to sell cars and stay with the trends to remain relevant. Unfortunately, with design limitations due to safety regulations and fuel conservation we are going to have cars that all look like each other with minor styling cues just to keep the brand recognition (e.g. twin kidney grilles). Brands find a styling cue and stick with it. LED headlight strips are the thing right now thanks to Audi. The Hofmeister kink that so associated with BMW and copied by so many others came from GM back in 1949.

That right there is the problem with Hyundai. They blatantly copy other makes. Just a quick look at the Sonata wikipedia page and you would never guess it was the same car with differing generations; they decided to copy different cars every time, with no design cues carrying over from previous generations.

There is no such thing as an original idea and I also disagree that the cars ripoff anything.

I see some styling cues similar to other vehicles but that's it.

Currently I cant remember ever mistaking a Kia/Hyundai for anything else.

If I squinted and the monitor was 20 feet away I would say they look the same.

The grille, headlights, hood, mirrors, rear and beltline are all different.

Carbon Copy?

I test drove the first Genesis and really liked it except for one thing. They had a friggin' parking brake pedal back where 1970's Chevy's had it - over by the dead pedal. Hit it every time I exited the car.

Hope it's gone in this model!

Sorry, still a Korean car and don't trust it. My dad's ex-girlfriend had an '89 Hyundai Excel once and NOTHING worked properly on it; we had to program radio presets with a chopstick, it was in and out of the shop every 2 months, and even the idle was rough enough to shake the fillings out of your teeth... I avoided the driver's seat of a Hyundai for most of my life after that, until I had to jump-start a Tiburon once.

Very nice, it looks a lot more expensive than it is. A lot more expensive than most BMW indeed.

You do realize that was 25yrs ago , pretty much irrelevant .
