IS-F Driveby
Walking through a Costco parking lot when an IS-F rolled by at about 15 MPH. Heard it coming from behind, so I turned to get an oncoming 3/4 view, side view, and rear 3/4 view. Observations:

I like the looks of the IS350 better than the IS-F. But I agree that the M3 is in a different league.

my CA went to Cali a couple months ago to drive the M3 and a lot of its "competitors" as part of a training program. cars included the c63, wrx sti, and the is-f. i expected him to talk mostly about the c63, but instead he said that the is-f was a "great car that grossly exceeded his expectations". here's a guy that rarely praises non-BMW cars, but apparently his team is focusing on the is-f as the M's prime competitor, not the c63 which surprised me. of course, every dealership will be different. he said the c63 was "pretty nice" but quickly gave the nod to the new M3.
for the record, he called the wrx sti a "piece of junk" and was insulted that the training class included it as a "competitor". haha. |

Saw my first IS-F on the road on Friday. I was in the right lane, about to exit the highway, and he came flying up to within a foot of my rear like a jackass. Left lane was open, and he wasn't exiting, just trying to piss me off, I suppose, and it worked.
Stacked exhaust looked as miserable in person as it does in photos. I didn't notice the exhaust note.

I guess I'm in the minority here. I generally like the styling for the IS-F. There are more than enough differences in the appearance to set it apart from a normal IS. (Who would want their 60k car mistaken for a 30-40k one? ) I didn't like the stacked exhaust at first, but it doesn't bother me as much anymore (still don't prefer them though!).

I saw a black IS-F a few days ago...it was hideous compared to an IS350.

I thought I saw one on the street but it turned out to be the new Ford Focus. Focus has that chrome fender F going on too.

One of my employees was about to purchase the ISF until he saw it in person. He really liked the ride, but didn't have the pizaazzzz the M3 has. He test drove mine and loved it much more than the ISF. He was coming from a IS350 and noticed that there was very little different in the interior of this car.
I personally think the car looks a bit too aggressive for what it was initially designed for.

Sorry, but it seems your wrong here. Many threads over this topic. The only picture that was provided to prove that the tips were connected... ended up only proving that they were still simply for aesthetics. I'll link you to the thread as well as link the pictures together. Enjoy. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...hlight=exhaust Picture 1 "Pre-Prodction" Picture 2 "Post-Production..?" Pretty clear here that there was absolutely no change made to the exhaust. If after all this we are infact wrong about the exhaust... (I haven't seen a IS-F in person yet) then I encourage you to take a picture proving that they are connected now. Until then, I'm sceptical.
