Ok more LIVE coverage from the BMW M event in Germany! Moving on from the M3 Pick-up, BMW has now shown off a new M3 concept car based on the E90 M3 Sedan. This particular concept is destined for the recently announced Nurburgring M Festival later in the year.

The main idea behind this concept is lightweight. Think BMW M3 CSL reborn. The sedan is stripped out, but unforunatly BMW has not put out any details on what the car's weight is or other specifics. They did say that the concept is intended to slot in between the standard M3 and the focused M3 GTS, will have a limited production run, and include several surprises. I guess we will just have to wait for the M Festival in June, where BMW intends to fully reveal this car.

No, this is NOT an April's Fools.

Wow, I didn't expect this. Wonder what premium they will charge for this lightweight.

If this turns out to be true, and the base for the light weight concept, I love that it is an E90.

Why not Coupe? And why didn't they badge it CSL or lightweight like the E36 M3 with the M3 flag on the bonnet?

Man, I am just *positive* this thread wasn't here (or anywhere else) when I posted mine, and yet the post time is before mine.

Anyway, sorry Mark, you can close, merge, or kill my thread now.

Meh. I'm semi-excited but like others have said, prob not going to be that much more lightweight, they will charge a premium and all they did was gut the inside. You can do that yourself and still keep the interior if you want. I don't really know though, so I guess we will just wait and see when more info is available.

Although there is supposedly some sort of special M3 related some or another coming out sometime in the Spring according to that interview with the M boss earlier this year...
