I dont think its ugly at all... the taillights suck but blacklines are like $230 and look much better... besides the taillights are getting a redesign next year.

I had the exact opposite reaction when I looked at them in person. I was leaning towards coupe because i didn't like the sedan in pictures. Went to the dealer and loved it, it has a 'presence'. Also is more differentiated from it's sibling (335i) than the coupe is.

One thing we can be sure of: it definitely has nothing to do with the fact that they needed a four-door car.

Sayemthree? You around? Got another candidate here.

Cause we think it looks better? Why do you live in Miami? I think it blows. It's called a difference of opinion.

How is this worthy of a thread?

If you actually put an e46 M3 next to an e90 M3, and look at both cars from behind, they become related very quickly.

Anyway, both e90 and e92 M3s are stunning - but I prefer the look of the e90 M3.

BTW - EVO names the e90 M3 "Best M3 Ever" and with DCT, they recorded 0 to 60 in 4.1 seconds! Now how's that for a four-door!
+1 E90 FTW. OMG, I used the TLA FTW. I feel younger already.

I'm a sedan guy too, based on my history of cars, and have always thought that the only two-door I'd ever own would be something that also only had two seats. But I agree the E90 rear end and tail-lights are the weakest link to an otherwise clean design. The fact that the M3 version is a bolstered-fender wide-body design makes it look even worse to me. So when I decided to get an M3, I had to suck it up and get a coupe contrary to my anti-coupe inclinations. A good consolation was the CF roof.

The redesign of the E90 tail lights is a step in the right direction. I haven't seen it in person, but from pics, I see it as a significant improvement.

It looks like the trunk portion carries the only design tweaks for the lights. I personally like it. It looks good in different ways than the E92. I think it's stealthier, too. Mine is JB with the gunmetal 18" wheels, debadged. Nobody knows what it is, and I love that.

The tail-lights are easily solved for a couple hundred dollars, blacklines look great.

I prefer the back of the e90 (to the e92) in the first two angles, but like the back of the e92 (over the e90) in the third.

Looks are subjective. I happen to like the E90 overall. I like the '08 sedan's rear lights better than the coupe (and blacklines are the best). But I like the coupe rear lights over the '09 sedan. None of this is a deal breaker. Just one stupid little detail out of many. I can't understand how some are choosing one over the other because of little details. These cars are 99% the same. I'm happy with either. I guess that makes me neither religious nor atheist, but agnostic. So the real question is: who are the atheists? The sedan crowd or the coupe folks?

Tough to complain if you're driving an M3. They both look great, but like you I prefer the e90 a tad more (and I don't need the extra seats). That being said, if there was any performance advantage I would have gone with the coupe in a heartbeat.

I am very happy with the sedan. The first 4 door I ever owned was an E350 wagon. That is because had a kid on the way. Now, I got the sedan primarily because of the kid. But now that I have drive the sedan around and have seen what it can partially do (still in break in), I am glad I got the sedan. It is more roomy, comfortable for my passengers, does look complete different than standard 3 series sedans and the performance figures are identical. So to me, getting a sedan or a coupe is more of a visual preference than a performance preference.

I do like the coupes and may have purchased on if I did not have a family. But I don't necessarily prefer one over the other.

+1

You get identical performance with 2 extra doors. Why not get the E90?

something just doesnt sit right with the rear... i love the 4door 335... but theres something weird about the rear of the m3...

Picked my E90 up 5 days ago... Love it... Coming from a B7 S4, I just could not justify giving up 2 doors. It is soo easy having the added doors even for someone who typically does not have more than 1 passenger. Besides, Im hoping it will draw a little less attention than the coupe from haters, racers, and ticketers.

HAHA you guys are funny.

The reasons why I became a fan of this site are for information on what aftermarket modifications are available for my car, specs on such upgrades, DIY and to make new friends with those who appreciate the BMW line.

With that said, I can give a flying funk if you think my E90 M3 is ugly or not. As one put it brilliantly a few posts above, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Actually, devoting a thread to simply spew out useless information about "looks" is a waste of space. It would be different, lets say if the E90 had a flaw in its design or the E90 rear tail lights continuously malfunction. But to simply put down someones car because of looks is frankly retarded. The subject matter is subjective.

"Hey I think your wife looks like a camel with herpes" Oh wait...that's also subjective isn't it. Get the picture?

So go one and flame all you want on other peoples cars, it's a free country! But don't think just because you have the right to talk sh!t, you won't get your ass kicked by someone who loves there car a little too much.

And for the record...I like how the E92 and E90 M3's look but I like the E90 M3 a a tad more. The End.

Or perhaps it's the 3 cans of Redbull I've ingested.
