This is totally off topic, but, I'm not going to like a 911 either am I?

I know whats going to happen. BMW will release a big cash incentives and I'm going to buy it. I was thinking about the parallel to the s2000 I used to own.. it didn't have any torque either, so I'd just keep it higher in the revs. Who knows, maybe I like it better?!

Either way, now I have a lot of info to chew over. Thanks again for the replies, it is really helpful.

If you like torque, the turbo'd versions might suit your needs but are a bit rough on the wallet.

+1 the turbo or GT2 have the rocketship like torque you desire...

But yea kinda pricey....heck if I had deep enough pockets I'd buy one of those new SL65 black series 661 hp; 738 lb-ft of torque

I also like the way it can behave like a lady when in "soft" mode but to hell with soft, hit the button and the axe murder is unleashed. As you can tell, I love my M3!
100% agreed. it's a racy engine, you NEED TO rev it. Just like, let's say a 360 Modena. Or even a F430.

It's not a Cobra 427 block. It's 'just' a 4.0 litre engine but a nice one with lots of revs.

You have to get used to that and it will take you a month or more to appreciate that kind of engine(ering)

I owned a 335i 6MT before this E90 M3..and before that one a E46 M3 wich I found rather 'slow' compared to the 335i(but it wasn't) same story...

My M3 feels like Dr.Jekyll & Mr Hyde. And my sign is gemini too.

I agree that the key is getting used to it. You drive this car way differently than a car with big torque. It's a whole other style of driving.

wow, that is probably one of the biggest insults to the car I have ever heard. Nascar is pretty much the slightly retarded red-headed step child of the racing world.

The engine of the M3 is trickle down directly from the boys in the F1 division. The F1 engine is designed to spin up quickly and spin up VERY high (19,000 RPM). The M3 engine also spins up very quickly and very high (for a production engine)... If you want to drive this car in a performance oriented manner, you simply don't let the RPMs drop below 5.5K, 5.5-8.4K it's an absolute beast.
