Bumper rash repair (advice needed)

Hey guys, when I took delivery of my M3 I noticed that the underside of the bumper had some scrapes on it. The dealer said that they would repair back to new no problem. In the meantime I had a clear bra installed, but made sure that it didn\'t cover the scraped area underneath. I then took the car to get repaired and just now got it back. On first look, it was perfect, but on closer inspection it appears that they just painted up until where the clear bra ends underneath. Due to this, there almost a visible seam where the new paint begins. It kind of looks like this:

---___---

With the first raised area being where the bra ends and then the lower area the original paint. Lastly the 2nd raised area is where the new paint begins.

Do you guys think this is acceptable, or should I take it back until it is like new again?

Thanks

I would take it back and have it redone so it is like new, which will require painting the whole bumper and the reapplying the clear bra I suspect. You've spent enough coin on this car that it should be handled in this manner only.

I find it odd that you would clear bra something that you were going to have repaired.

If you want it done right, you'll have to remove the clear bra and repaint the whole bumper (which should have been done in the first place) otherwise there will always be an uneven spot.

The clear bra doesn't cover the damaged spots, so I didn't think it would be an issue. I wasn't aware that the whole bumper would have to be repainted to correct the spots underneath.

Usually touch ups are reserved for very small spots (i.e. rock chips) only. Anything bigger, covering a larger area, will need a full respray. Otherwise you have mismatches and visible lines.

I agree I would have never put a clear bra on until it was fixed. I don't think they are going to pay to redo it again. Good luck OP!

Well, you are correct. I took it back and they are refusing to repaint. I guess I'll just get a full respray in a few years, or maybe just a Euro bumper...
