Mounting Remote Canisters?
I have sent my rear shocks back to AST to get longer hoses to mount them in the trunk. I was curious if anyone had done this and had photos or suggestions on how to do it. TIA

There are two easy ways to route the canisters into the trunk but first...
Do the rear canisters have quick-disconnect fittings on the hoses? Are you willing to drill holes in the rear shock towers below where the dampers mount? |

I'd rather not drill holes in the sheet metal. My first idea was to run them up under the fender liner and in through the vents on either side towards the back of the trunk (just over the battery on the passenger side). Tonight I got to looking at it again as I'm still waiting on my shocks to come back and I realized that I could take out the plastic tray in the area that would have been the spare tire well. I got it removed and it looks like I could run the canisters into that area either by 1) using a hole saw big enough for the whole canister to fit through or 2) cut a small section out of the edge of the panel that is just wide enough to drop the hose through that slot and then mount them in that recessed area. I am leaning towards #2, but thought I'd post and see what others have done.

If I don't get any other feedback, I'll post in this thread how I actually did it. I think I'm going to try to go right into that plastic pan in the floor of the trunk. It is held on by 10mm nuts from the top and then the aluminum heat shield holds it from under the car. I have it removed now and I think ultimately this might be the best way to do it. The nice thing about it is that it puts the canisters right under the carpet panel.
