Porsche has recently taken a double-clutch equipped 997 to the Nurburgring and shaved a massive 8 seconds off its time compared to a manually equipped model. It's only a matter of time until BMW shows what it can do.
This is proof that when the software is correctly designed for track purposes the dual clutch will prove to be quicker. 8 seconds is a hugh improvement but think from memory the manual car tested with equipped with stock rubber. Maybe best allow a 4~5 sec improvement for the gearbox itself.

Plus, footie, its not clear that anyone knows for sure that the two cars being compared were even equipped the same in other regards.

They sure use "presumably" a lot, and did the other car have PASM?

Not rock solid A vs. B here but the quote is pretty strongly A vs. B.

The time is in line with my estimates that M-DCT would get you 5-10 seconds at the ring.

Does PDK have identical ratios to MT?

8 seconds is a huge improvement with only a different type of transmission. Kudos to Porsche.

I sure do wish BMW was making the CSL version so we could really see a great improvement of time on the ring.
