Tech Package: Question

Guys,
i was wondering if you are not using M button then whats the default setting :
Comfort or Normal ?

Since i feel the steering was very smooth and a soft suspension.
My SA says not to use M button until the Break-in and default is comfort if you dont use M button.

Could you guys confirm?

thanksss
MM

The default suspension setting and power on will be whatever you set your car to no reason why you cannot use the Mmode until after break in...your sa is retarded
The steering feel is firmer with the Mmode thats probably the only thing you can't set normal mode and Sport Plus throttle but I usually just leave it in sport anyway

So my Question is what happens if you dont use M button?
Is the suspension in normal or comfort mode?

thanks

You can change "default" setting in menu by key specific setting (what setting you want to be in when you turn on your car by each key).
But to be easier, if you don't see EDC light on the button, it's comfort.

EDC lights:
No light- comfort
1 light- normal
2 lights- sport

So if you don't see any light on EDC button, you're in comfort.

I think my SA said same thing when you dont push M button no lights on Power and EDC buttons which means comfort...no wonder my steering feels like a lexus steering in this mode...

Your 'default' settings can be EDC in either sport or comfort (as mentioned), and 'power' in normal or sport, which is throttle sensitivity.

All other settings can be changed with the 'M' button, but the settings themselves have nothing to do with break-in; you can change them all you want if you don't drive aggressively. Your SA is nuts. Break-in is about not exceeding certain rpm and not being hard on brakes, etc. for a few hundred miles. Read the manual.

All questions answered already, but geez, I continue to be amazed at the mis and dis information spread by SAs and other yahoos at the dealers. BMW really needs to do some online training (and testing) of its personnel. There's really no excuse for this lack of knowledge, and it reflects badly on the brand. Where I work we're required to have umpteen hours of training/year. I usually bitch about it, but nevertheless I know the most obscure details of our file retention policy, Sarbanes Oxley, etc., and this training is updated frequently as regulations change. BMW should be no different (if they have such a thing it seems they're doing a bad job on testing.) Seems like a cheap investment to keep bad information from flowing to the customer and damaging the brand.

Almost all car dealer salespeople and service advisors aren't trained properly.
Just the nature of the business.
