Smoked M3 Tail Lights

I have been searching around for a solution on smoking the taillights on my 08 m3. i have seen several 335s with this done and i wonder how they did it? sprayed? Tint Vinyl? i dont want to do anything that will look cheap, just a nice smoked look. id rather buy an entire fixture and throw them on there instead of resorting to spraying. thats cheap and cheesy

anyway just looking for your input, if anyone knows a company that sells smoked tails, or any advice on a way to tint the tails. Thanks!

I'm taking my car to smokedlamps.com next week to get the white part of the tails smoked w/ paint. I had it done on my last M3 and it looked fantastic. A subtle but nice addition to the car.

I had my TT ones done in Germany (bought a set of OEM lights and shipped them over via The TT Shop). Dave Mahoney owns the TT Shop (easily googled) and he may be willing to have his contact do a set of M lights?

I'm not doing the M ones, I feel it looks great as is but on the TT the rears are so huge, expecially on a black car, it looks like a baboons arse.

Pic...

At my Dad's house with his MX5 and my Brothers now redesigned (With subtle use of a heavy right foot, a lack of ability on my brother's part and a large wall) Elise...

I do believe the blacked out tail lights would not look very appealing on AW!!

I think the best looking color with smoked tails would be graphite/grey cars.

Yep, I agree with that!!! White is probably too much of a contrast and black a bit too difficult to distingish the lights from the body.

Stole this pic from one of Lewis@Mwdesign. I think these lights look good with the tint.

I was told that there is supposedly some DIY section teaching you how to do this. If not, maybe ask CEC since they did this car.
