The above looks optimistic but that's what the scale showed...

I thought so...

I will try in another shop though first given opportunity. Does anyone know what kinda shops have scales, i.e. where it is likely to find one?

Any decent tuning shop should have scales. Certainly any shop that supports a race car will have them. They are used primarily for corner balancing.

Yep old thread, but just to note the unique features that are exclusive for both cars:

E92 cf roof is a 45 lb savings over E90 moon roof, and about 15 lbs savings over a standard roof E90.
E90 extra doors add a total 25 lbs.

All other options are no exclusive for either cars and would weigh the same.

Weighing in

If you have a brickyard, or stone supplier that sells retail, they have very accurate scales. They weigh you on the way in, then on the way out to figure out the bill on the stone you want to buy.

interesting...good tip. Anyone siphon gas out of their tank while they're in the yard to deflate their bill a bit?

P90X, gave up cigs and alcohol..had to quit cold turkey b/c he also gave up blow at the same time which apparantly helps keep weight off...I'll let 1moremod speak to that.

i pulled rear seats, rear floor mats, rear headrests, mobility tray, trunk mat, some of the plastic in the trunk, apex wheels, not sure what else. dont have anymore. to reduce weight substantially need to change out seats. strip rear down to bare metal, get rid of sunroof, all carpet, door cards, its a never ending thing.

Bringing it back with one question -- any info on weight distribution differences, since both are very close in total weight? I'm tending towards the E90 because of the extra doors for family stuff, a bit more practical, but yet still itching to track it once in a while

FYI, current track-only ride is E46 M3.

i dont know the difference in weight distribution but if you could use the extra doors its not going to hinder you at the track. e90 is great and you can fit all 4 track wheels across the back seat and have all your gear in the trunk. I too have a tiag e46 track car!
