Alternative tire sizes for stock 19's

Guys,
I'm kind of new at this. I'm just wondering if there are alternative sizes for the stock 19's other than the 245/35 and 265/35. I really don't want to do the PS2's again and I'm having an extremely hard time finding other brands that carry a 265/35 that won't break my bank.
Are the benefits to running a wider tire? I've seen guys run 255/35 and 275/35 on the stock wheels, but just curious if this is safe and a good route to go. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Mike
