Tire Pressure HPDE

I have 09 E92 18,s PS2. What is the tire pressure that you use tracking HPDE events? Outside temp avg 80. Thanks

I ran 37/40 cold at my one and only time at the track. I think that was probably a little high. I did not push the car real hard, but the rear liked to step about under hard accelaration. 35/35 has been mentioned for rain, but I have no experience. Guessing, you might wish to try 36/38 cold as a bench mark.

I have a square setup 275/35/18 and usually start the day at 38 psi all around. As the tires heat up and the pressure builds up, I monitor the pressure and how far to the side of the tire I am getting rubber contact.

Tires typically heat up to about 45 psi after a 30 min session and I usually drop a few pounds after the first session or so.

Does this mean that you usually run 45 psi ? Do you take your psi, right after your track session, with no cool down lap?

18s PS2. I follow the same procedure: I try to keep pressure around 42 or below after a session and after cool down lap and 5 min brake cool down drive by letting air out as necessary. This has worked best for me. Starting cold pressures are about 32/34 front/back.

If this is your first track day, tire pressures may not matter too much. You can start with the ones indicated in the manual and monitor them between sessions to see how they evolve.

I usually check the pressure as soon as I am back in the pits after the cool down lap. I would usually get around 45 psi and I take it back down to 40 psi before the tires cool down.
