Do you crate your dog?

My dog is unfortunately ending up being crated for several hours while I'm at work. This has become a recent issue with the fact that my ex is now working full time as well. I try to get home during lunch to let her out but sometimes I can't and she ends up in there for as much as 8 hours straight. I'm not sure if it's an option for you but we installed two dog doors for our doberman so she could go from the house, into the garage and then into the backyard. We close off a door to the main part of the house so she only has access to the basement, garage and backyard when we're gone. It limits what parts of the house she can destroy and being able to go outside and hang out in a big yard whenever she wants has stopped her from being destructive altogether.

Has she brought a critter in through the door yet, or a lot of mud? That's always the drawback of doggie doors.

No but the cat did go on a bird killing spree where she would bring them in the house. That was frustrating...
