Bimmer vs Beemer

Am I the only one who thinks "Bimmer" isn't right? Wouldn't that sound out to "Bimm-er" phonetically?

yes, it does sound out to be "bimm-er". That's because it's meant to.
Bimmer = cars
Beemer = motorcycles

Pretty funny. In JC's (of TopGear) books you will fnd Beemer many times. I've seen Beemer written in places like NY Times and WSJ in some articles. Both referred to cars not bikes.

personally i dont even get who came up with the distinction, looks just like same thing spelled differently like words colour or color.
