It's not specifically the transmission that you have to worry about. Only worry with SMG is the pump.

But as for normal maintenance around 100k, you're looking at the following possibly failing:

Alternator
Waterpump
Fuel Pump
Vanos Tabs
Subframe
Cooling System (Radiator, etc.)
Belts
Pulleys

To name a few...

I've heard about the Vanos and Subframe issues. Everything else sounds pretty common. BMW parts are like 100x more expensive than for other cars though haha

Exactly. And the majority of people don't work on the cars themselves and get bent over by the dealer

I graduated from College 9 months ago and I'm approved for a $50k loan at 2.75% interest through USAA. Also just leased a BMW. Recently graduating doesn't mean you have to pay 9% interest. Look around and compare rates. No reason in this banking climate to pay more than 4-5% interest unless you have bankruptcies or 0 credit history... OP should be able to get a loan through PenFed or USAA for low rates as long as you've had some form of credit for the last couple years.

A $50k loan must make a fun monthly payment huh?
