DCT clutch replacement

I know the clutch cant be replaced , only way is to replace the whole tranny. I drive pretty much, 25k - 30k a year and now my 2011 has 39k miles. I don't know how long the clutch can last. Should i get the extended warranty?

I've read articles where the clutches have been replaced for increased power levels from fully built supercharged motors...

Not really worth it if you drive 30K miles a year and you've been troublefree thus far IMO

they can be replaced with oem ones. removing the dct trans take pretty much the same amount of time as the 6speed and doing the clutch packs doesn't take a large amount ether. you must have a scan tool that can reset the dct and relearn the clutch slip points and etc.

100k with no doubt. Of course it does depend on how much it is abused, etc. I have 90K on my '08 with a few autocrosses and track days. I have no indications of wear/malfunction. The clutch wears and has a finite life, but I think with regular street use, it will last a long time, 150K+?

Heard some stories from e60 m5 that clutch has to be replaced every 30k-40k miles

Possible but that was only 6speed or SMG not the DCT.

I wouldn't worry about it. Most warranties don't cover clutches IIRC since it's mechanical wear.

I have 100k km = 62k miles...many launches done...hard driven quite often...DCT still like a Rock! Just some DCT software updating and kicking hard again!

The DCT has two wet multiplate clutches. The wear is distributed on two clutches rather than one, being imersed in oil also reduces wear, multiplate design distributes the wear on multiple discs for both clutches and since they are electronicaly controlled, the clutches do not see as much human error/abuse. IMO the clutches should last a long time. Only the future can tell though .
