How to insert / change multiple CDs?

I know this is a really dumb question and I feel dumb asking. I did flip through the manual, but did not see a paragraph on describing how to insert multiple discs?

There are buttons 1 - 6 on the console, so I'd assume the system can take up to 6 discs.

The manual does mention about a CD changer, but it's in the TRUNK. To me that sounds unlikely because:

1) I'm able to insert at least 1 CD into the slot on the console, which is how this is SUPPOSED to work in my mind.

2) The act of getting out of the car, popping open the trunk just to change a CD, is retarted.

Now, someone care to enlighten me?

You still use CD's?

I believe there's only a single CD player in dash.

I play MP3 CDs. In my old car, it had 6 buttons for a 6-disc changer. I just assumed our M3 is the same.

And yeah, I know about the programmable buttons love them.

So I guess this is it. I'll have to burn all the MP3s onto a DVD or something.

the buttons 1 thru 6 on the console are for the programable functions of the car not for the cd player. you can use them to turn of aux, or nav to certain destination or whatever you program them to do. has nothing to do with audio.

Which leads to my next question, and I think the answer is YES, but still:

If I burn a DVD-/+R load of MP3s, will the player be able to play this disc like a CD-R with MP3s?

Yes it can likely play MP3 DVDs, but the car supports MP3s on USB flash drives (which can be plugged in underneath the center armrest or in the glovebox). Why not just do that instead so you don't have to bother with the additional work of burning and storing discs? Or, get an iPod (though I prefer the flash drive method).

All my songs are stored in my iPhone. And my phone goes with me wherever I go, so it's kinda hassel to take the phone in / out of the armrest. Hence I was going to pick out some of the best driving tracks and put them on a disc

Put 6 discs in the stacker in the boot. Not hard unless I'm missing something? Otherwise do one at a time in the CD player in the dash?

Buy a 32 GB flash drive... put all your songs on it. Program one of the hot keys to the root directory of the flash drive.

done.

Nobody has answered the OP's question. The answer is our cars only support one disc at a time.

Indeed.

So what I've done instead, is burning a DVD full of songs, and call it a night LOL.

I was listening to Christopher Lawrence - Rush Hour.mp3 on repeat.

If you have an iPhone then use bluetooth audio. Or since you'll need a charge, use the USB connector cable and charge your iPhone while listening to music from your phone. Win win.

Or just burn it to the hard drive in the car from a USB flash drive (I think you can rip from CD to hard drive as well but am not sure as I've never tried a CD in the car, did try a DVD movie which worked well.)

As I read it here the idrive converts it to 128 wma when it transfers it to the onboard drive. I would not want this to happen to my music. USB SSD flash drives are getting cheap in the smaller sizes and quite reasonable in somewhat larger sizes that would be adequate for most people to fit entire collections if that were the goal.

Much, much easier than burning discs unless a person is of a mind to be stubborn. lol If thats the case I can't really cast any stones, done it myself.

Ok Honey, I think this should answer your question. If you have a 6 CD changer in the boot like below ...... you're good.

(I couldn't be bothered to put up my roof, but you get the idea.)

Or break the CDs into pieces and put those pieces one by one into the slot so It won't choke.
