HELP! Annoying Knocking Noise on my M3!

BUMP...still happens...anybody know whats wrong! it's driving me nuts.

my SA said its "normal"

when I'm stopping, I hear a clunk. you'll hear it 0:16s and 0:47s

problem solved!

According to the dealers, it was the two pins that locks the brake pads together, 1 of the 2 pins came off, so whenever i'm coming to a stop, the calipers would be loose and 'knock'. will scan the service record for future M3post member references!

This is precisely what I was going to suggest.

On a previous car I had, there was a backing plate that fit over the brake pad which took up the clearance to the pad location in the caliper. It was once left off and of course the clearance was increased. So as you move forward and then brake, it clacks into the forward most position. Then if you reverse and apply the brake, it clacks into the rear most position.

You should test by driving slowly first and then applying the brake. Once you get the first clack, drive further forward and again apply the brake, if it's the pad moving, it will not clack again as it's in the forward position.

You could then reverse and see it you can get it to move back.

all brakes have a little but of play as they have to move in their seating position, but if the clearance is excessive, it will make noise.
