Just curious - who did you talk to about this? Any reason given for the amount of time required?

Lex. He said that soon they will be testing the revised shocks. If it works the new parts will need to be fabricated overseas, then shipped here to start the recall.

Are they planning on keeping the same spring rates? Not sure if you would know.

Update: revised parts are being made in Europe, and a few cars stateside will road test the initial batch of revised shocks. After verification that the noise is eliminated, full recall will begin.

Here's the latest: I will be a tester for the revised shocks, which should be in my hands by mid next week. I will put the updated shocks through all types of road surfaces/speeds/settings to see if the noise issue has been eliminated. Fingers crossed!

Suspension is something that I would never mess around w/t on an M. Unless it's a M couple/ roadster.

Proper aftermarket suspension can give you great performance gains. A lot of ppl that track their Ms go with aftermarket suspensions.

Pure track performance wise, the Club Sports are the way to go. It is a very robust mono tube system with quite a few years of good track record and feedback. The CS also has a remote oil/nitrogen reservoir with adjustable nitrogen pressure, so one can increase/decrease the effective spring rate by simply changing the pressure.

The CS, being a track/race focused kit, also requires camber plates in the front and solid pin mounts in the back. These features add NVH which is not suitable for those M3s primarily used for the street. Moreover, the remote cannisters require special mounting hardware (or as simple as Velcro for some people).

Finally, the CS is sold as dampers only, and then you can choose spring rates, camber plates, mounts, etc. It is sold as a more customizable product to suit the exact needs of serious trackers/Club Sport racers.

The Street Sport on the other hand is sold as a complete plug 'n play kit for dual purpose M3 (street+track), it comes with springs already chosen for you and utilizes stock front guide support to minimize NVH. SS also don't have remote cannisters, so mounting is easier.

Nevertheless, the SS still offers a very wide range of damper adjustments and can be used with very stiff springs w/o being revalved. They can easily work with camber plates upfront if you so wish.

I am planning to get the CS kit if I get more serious on the track. Price wise the CS and SS are similar (mid-thousands). CS is slightly more depending on what other options you choose.

Wow thanks for the in depth response. It clears a lot up for me. I was just mis-understanding the clubsport kit. Sounds like the super street kit is for me since I plan to do 4-5 track days a year. Thanks for the help.
