Slow idrive?

My idrive is fine until I try and enter a new address in the nav... Takes forever to allow me to actually enter the address/postcode once I select that city option.

Anyone else have this issue? Software update required?

I had a software update which cured a super slow iPod browsing issue.

If you're out of warranty, the dealer might try and sting you for it if it's not a proven issue.

A fairly common known problem is the iDrive crashing or freezing, which can't be replicated ad-hoc but might help in getting the update if it's reported as an issue

Having said that, entering an address via the nav is pretty slow, as it's getting info from the DVD

Cheers for that ed335d....

Now that you mention it, my I drive does randomly freeze.... ;-) and I'm in warranty.

Is the Navigation DVD scratched or dirty?

If your using the newest maps from a "backup" DVD the drive is very sensitive to the make of disk and the dye used.

Its a relatively cheap DVD "backup". I guess i should try it with a really good quality disk.

Anyone any tips for good quality blank DVDs?

Yes, these work well:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...00_i00_details

And try burning your DVD at the slowest speed possible.
