Ugh. Not just to be contrarian but why the hell use a brilliant STRUCTURAL material for a COSMETIC, NON-STRUCTURAL application. Despite good build quality these reek of rice and poseurdom.

These are the inner door panels right? at least it's not outside screaming look at my doors. If these provide good weight saving(and I'm assuming it does), I can see why some may justify purchasing these.

in the door panels is there any space for the speakers... ??
secondly is it possible to have the performance seats in fox red as im very tempted for the seats but they wont match the interior if they are in black ??

The carbon door panels do have the patterns for all the OEM accessories. The BMW performance seats only come from BMW in black leather with the alcantara but you could have them custom wrapped in Fox red

My comment was not about a project but about a component of a project and my comment stands. The weight saved, if any, absolutely does not require this part to be an advanced composite.

Agreed and agreed...

No disrespect to IND, I love dealing with them as a company and they certainly do produce some nice project cars. But I do find this a foolish waste of money and kinda ricey... Is CF for no reason other than to try and impress people who see the inside of your car.

On the topic of the carbon fiber door panels, I do agree in a sense. I don't like to use carbon where it's not needed either. For those of you who love a car oozing with functional parts, I know you'll appreciate the trunk we're installing:

This one off piece is a direct copy of the OEM trunk made by Challenge, except in carbon kevlar and about 1/3 of the weight of the factory piece.

With that being said, the prime purpose of a sports car (and an M car especially) is to please the driver, at least in my eyes. If installing a certain part pleases the driver, then that part is serving it's purpose.

In any case, I think the carbon door panels will make quite a bit more sense when you see the rest of the interior, and some of the more functional interior pieces that will be installed on the car.

More photos-

Is this a one-off piece by Challenge?

My CSL and Ferrari CS had them, do you still feel that BMW and Ferrari were, as you say, ' reeking of rice and posturing' ?

Personally I would prefer NO leather or alcantara inserts, just plain carbon fiber, and a simple handle like these both had

Damn that looks sick, this isn't really bling more than it is functional and hopefully useful. As far as exact weight differences what are we looking at?
