Since he revived the thread I might as well post in it.
75 in a 45. Traffic was doing about 15ish over. No commercial/residential area whatsoever. Got pulled over by an undercover in a 2003 F150. I never speed in areas where there are people either

I had a 103 in a 55 on 495 in my '02 m3 in Virginia - they were pretty mad...not a good scene. No prior points and I still had a restricted license for 6 months.
Now I try to avoid 90+ in VA, own a valentine one, and only crank the e92 up in non-adjacent states. |

No tickets so far (hope it stays that way ). My strategy is to avoid interstates, travel on weekdays, and slow down on potentially dangerous situations, like on blind hills, overpasses, when oncoming car could be a cop, etc. It's great to drive alone, since that means less danger of an accident and less damage to your car (rock chips, etc), but a V1 is no help against instant-on with no traffic ahead, so have to be even more careful when all by yourself. One great tip to know an oncoming vehicle is not a cop: DRLs. Cop cars don't have them, so if lights are on, no need to slow down . |

I must've been doing 80 in 45 zone, when I spotted a charger chaser in my rear view mirror. I could tell chaser trooper was going very fast and most likely after me. I knew for sure he couldn't have clocked me because I never passed him, so he must've just merged in. I realized, if I touch that brake pedal, he would see the brake lights and would know I'm trying to slow down because I spoted him. So, I did the most reasonable thing the very moment I spotted him in my rear,- I down-shifted to 3rd, quickly into 2nd, right up to speed limit...chaser leveled his charger with my car, drove right next to me for little while, trying to clock me, but there was nothing to clock,- I was driving nicely withing the speed limit, and I didn't even look at him directly, but I saw, the trooper was pissed. Next moment he was gone...to chase somebody else.

A few weeks back, around midnight.
100+ in a tunnel, 45mph zone. Cant resist to hear the Eisenmann roar A cop fuking appeared from no where, pulled up next to me and asked "HEY! What's the rush?" Me: "Nothing Sir" Cop: "You want me to impound your car and give you a thousand dollars ticket?" Me: "No Sir" Cop: "Then you better go home, I dont want to see you here again tonight" Me: "Yes sir" He took off and then I realized because there was an amigo sitting in his backseat. Luckiest day ever! lesson learned: Dont fuck around in the downtown area at midnight. |

The V1 keeps me honest and on my toes, but shouldn't be a replacement for keeping your eyes very open and scanning if you are pushing it. And people wow at the 118 ticket, but seriously... that is SO easy to do in this car. After passing or something I've caught myself in surprise going 100... I had to set the limit warning at 90. |

Here is another one. 120 in 50 zone, ealry morning on Belt Parkway. The officer tells me,- Since this is your first offence, you are not getting arrested. You get to appear in court.
The judge suspended license for 3 months and $900 fine. |

As for me, nothing insane. I-5 South coming down from San Francisco to Irvine, at 11:20 at night. Cop radars me doing 88 in a 70. My cruise control is set at 85 'cuz I just want to get home.
Seriously, at 11:20 at night on the I-5. There were only 5-10 other cars on the road, and they're all going the same speed or faster. Oh well. |
