if so, yes, you can. Although, it's not recommended that you have different tires, if you must do so, you can mix tires if they share common characteristics. Both the 5p and sportcontact3s are in the same performance tire category, and the 5p, depending on the size, have the same UTQG temperature, traction, and resistence rating as the sportcontact3s. So if you must, go for it. Handling characteristics can be weird in extreme circumstances such as in standing water or track conditions. note there are different temperature ratings on the 5p depending on the size. The two tires also has different thread patterns. here are your two links: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....portContact+5P http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....SportContact+3 |

Not true. You can. It is one matter if you have AWD and the same tire size on all four corners, but in a car with RWD and different tire sizes in the rear, the front/rear tire interaction is significantly less. As long as the tires are reasonably similar, you will be absolutely fine.

Ok so I got the 5p conti and it a great tyre. The grip is great on fast take off, but I noticed that the car sways at high speed, ie above 200km/h.
I did some searches and noted that new tyres have to be worn in. Is this true, or is the mixed front and rear setup causing the sway? |
