Why was this moved to the "M3 vs..." forum?

What is the M3 vs in this thread? Itself? I am beyond confused.

After spending 2 days investigating, the service advisor called with the bad news. Bearing 6 is destroyed and damage to the crank. Informed him of the lengthy list of parts that are needed and turn-around time. They needed to order a few of the parts from Germany. He explained the process and put him in a loaner. This is the same song and dance for the S65. This isn't caused from any aftermarket parts or tune.

Facts: The Car is a well maintained, One owner, 2010, 54k miles and bone stock. Unless you count an MPE axle back exhaust and OEM carbon splitters. Maybe his window tint blew the motor?!

On my way to buy a powerball ticket. I hear the odds are good!
I'm (nor BMW) say you have to in order to avoid blown bearings, but when you say well maintained do you know if that included smooth warm up before starting to ad RPM? Just curious.

Cheers

My s54 blew a rod bearing without warning. It made me spin by dumping oil from the hole in the block on to my rear tires.

There were three other popular threads that mods moved to this sections - yours must have just gotten swept up with the others...

Hi guys, I changed my rod bearing to wpc warped rod bearing by a nice shop (EXX), but I always hear click noise recently, warm and hot motor only, if the weather is very hot, I can hear the click at idle. So, is rod bearing going bad sign(the click) only appear warm motor?

Sounds fairly normal to me. One thing I noticed that yours does the same as mine is the cold start cycle runs for bloody ages!
When I first got the car the CSC would be almost exactly 1 min every start regardless of temp, now in the last few months it runs for nearly 2 mins no matter temp, altitude, weather, etc

Good to know!! As far as I can remember the cold start has been about that long, no idea why, I just assumed it was normal

Does not sound like rod bearings to me. May be belt related?

open the hood and ask some one to touch the gas pedal couple of times. See if you can track the sound from the belt area. I had a similar sound and it was a bad belt tensioner

Appreciate it, that take a weight off my shoulders, so just to clarify this vid was taken after a small 25 min drive and before the drive the car was sitting for about 2 weeks.

Sort of like a tapping/ticking/metal sound, you can hear it better when I'm not revving it
