Combox/6NR- Enabling BMW Assist
Hey guys,
I have the Combox/6NR retrofitted into my '10 E93. However, I really miss being able to use the SOS button and especially having the ability to send directions/POI straight to my car via Google Maps. I've searched the forums and see some conflicting answers (some say it's not possible, others say you need a dealership to activate). So what's the deal? Is it possible? If it does require a visit to the dealership, are there any in NJ/PA/NY/DE area that are willing to do this? Thanks in advance. |

You probably got the Combox Media edition. For starter you would need combox telematic edition. That's the easy part.
Then you have to find a dealer who's willing to transfer your old assist box number to the new telematic number.

Stupid question, but how can I tell which one I have? Do you happen to know if the guys at Mt Laurel (or any other dealership) would be willing to do this kind of transfer? |

I spoke to my installer and I believe I have the Media edition.
Has anyone actually had any luck with activation of the Telematics version via dealership or through BMW Assist folks? |

If you have the media one then it's probably not worth it for you to spend the extra cash on the telematics + having to pay a dealer to do the switch.
