Carbon Leather Center Console

Has anyone done this? I have seen the carbon fiber one, but has anyone done carbon leather for the center console to match the carbon leather trim on the dash?

I think it would look good especially with the extended leather. Kind of like this picture but carbon leather not carbon fiber.

I searched all over but I cannot seem to find it, has this not been done before?

Love it

I hate the shiny, plasticy looking carbon fiber. looks like a wannabe racecar. The leather looks a lot better on the center console.

haha, the picture the OP posted is actual Carbon Fiber... The "shiny, plasticy" stuff.

And to the OP....yes, it's been done! 3M sells a carbon leather "look" vinyl which can achieve what you are looking to do. Or you can try to source actual BMW carbon leather and have it wrapped. More costly a process, i'm sure.

I wasn't referring to the picture OP posted. I've been lucky to see it in person on someone car

I know it's more work, but you could do is buy a wood trim (they go for pretty cheap, saw one for $200 something, shipped). Then wrap them in the same CF, so that it matches throughout the car.

It has been done but I personally think it's a downgrade from the stock console which is covered in real leather. Many people think the console is plastic when it is in fact leather.

to each their own i guess.... some might say they dislike leather that was produced to "look like" carbon fiber.

Are you positive ?

I know the sides are, but pretty sure the top where the shifter is and the nav buttons are, is plastic.

Uh, no it's not. It is soft touch plastic. Probably the best soft touch plastic I've ever encountered as far as feel, but plastic none-the less.

I have never seen carbon leather done before. it sounds like a highly expensive and difficult custom job.

I'm pretty sure there's a vinyl out there, but it will never duplicate a carbon leather look and feel, no matter how good it is... Carbon Leather is pretty unique as it's leather weaved into a carbon pattern

Hirsch is the only company i'm aware that does this as an aftermarket product. They likely will charge an arm and leg for the work on a custom piece.

I think it is real leather and not plastic.. It smells like beef jerky or something organic when you heat it up and try to remove it...definately does not smell like plastic..

...and this is the problem with wrapping the center console.. you have ot remove the leather first which is a PITA

Perhaps there are different center console versions, then. I know the sides are leather if you have extended leather option, but I know my top isn't because I put a small dent in it on accident when removing the shift boot.

The center console is leather wrapped on ALL e9x M3's. The sides are only leather if you have extended leather.

Thanks I will take a look at that!

I didnt think that the center console was leather too, it didnt seem like it to me, I will have to go back and check it again.

There are some threads about cf fabric wraps on the e90 side if you're interested.

And surprised that the center console is leather too. Might as well be plastic because it feels like plastic to me.

Not true. Uh, yes it is leather. Remove your shifter boot and you will see the edges of the leather wrap.
