There is only one type... unless someone modified yours. I hope for your sake that someone didn't remove the leather from your center console cover. To be clear we are talking about the top of the console (where the shifter and i-drive knob reside). The sides of the console are plastic unless you have the extended leather package.

Thinking back, I had some peeling trim around the iDrive controller and the dealer replaced it last year. I recall the new cover feeling different than the old one, and it is certainly possibly my old cover did have leather on it. Perhaps people complaining about peeling get the downgraded center console cover. Though, it wouldn't have been the leather itself peeling but just the small trim piece around the iDrive knob.
