How To Know When to Ignore a Tune Review

The reviewer includes any text of the form:

"I turned the power button on and...."

This should be an indication of a user that is extremely prone to false impressions, placebo effects, and butt dyno improvements. It should prove helpful for anyone that wants to separate useful reviews from completely anecdotal tripe.

That is all.

But what if the reviewer states?..

"I turned the power button on and the throttle response was even sharper than before."

Sorry. Had to.

Power button doesn't matter full throttle

Same with power on or off.

Unless we're talking E60 M5. Then power button gives you power!

I generally ignore it when someone says their car pulls much harder. You can't really feel 10-15 more hp on a car that already has over 300.

oh no i got a massive increase in throttle response with just an air filter. i could burn tire from a standing start in 6th. when i cranked the steering wheel and floored it i was surprised that i lost traction as well. very weird.

What "Tune" is everyone talking about? My radio works great now. I didn't know that the "Power" button also changed the Radio's performance.

We've spoken with many people that were convinced their XX tune made power over stock, only to be disappointed when seeing cold, hard data in front of them on the dyno. Problem is, there are many well-written opinions out there, with little or no data to back them up.

Dynos need be used as validation of claims, as its expected on all hardware-based mods (pulleys, exhaust, superchargers, etc), why not expect the same criteria from software?

No tuner should be exempt from this. Before/after dynos are essential for turning those opinions into facts.
