BMW M3 MPG (Yes I know its been asked)
Hi All,
I am asking some quick help. I am due to pick up a used BMW M3 E92 2007 Manual tomorrow. On 6,500 miles. I know and expect the running costs to be higher than my current 135i however plese can some one clarify quite what mph for city/country driving I can expect on the M3. I do roughtly 10-12k per annum in the car and I would say I am not too heavy footed. I would like to know on average what to expect MPG and what other sneaky bills to expect! I know it has been posted before but for my peace of mind please I appreaiate the help. Thanks, Nick |

In the first 900 miles or so of owning mine I've averaged 20.9 miles per UK gallon - this being a mixture of urban and extra urban ...
At one point I was down at around 16 MPG but this was within town without any motorway driving so a lot of stop start. This is with M-DCT ... |

I'd just like to add that I'm surprised to see it sitting in the 20's as well, given what some appear to be getting from previous threads ... |

15,500 miles here with 18.8 mpg at 98% highway. I cruise control at 74-75 mph most of the time. Yes this is calculated with a calculator.
I commute 100 Miles everyday and my mpg got DRAMATICALLY better after my 15k oil change for some reason.

I want to remind those comparing UK (or Canadian) and US MPG that there is a difference in the measurements. The UK uses Imperial Gallons and the US uses US Gallons. To convert the US MPG needs to be factored by 1.2 to give the equivalent UK MPG.
ie 16 MPG in Florida is equivalent to 19.2 in London. |

assuming current rates...AND conservative driving habits (i.e. not going WOT every time you get in the car, shifting at 3-3.5k rpm) AND 75%hwy/25%city miles , you can figure it will cost u about 26 cents per mile....so if you drive 10k miles per year, you're looking at roughly $2,500/year in fuel costs....the sticker is pretty close citing 3k/year...
