I have had motors blow in other cars when pushing the limit, and it was super discouraging. It made me want to give up on the car and move to something else. In some cases I did, and I have regreted not completing the original goals to a certain extend.

I encourage you to stick with the M especially since you seem to love the car so much. I have been on the verge of going to the p-car world so many times but have somehow been able to stick with it.

Anyways thanks for keeping us posted and being such a good sport!

Goodluck with the rebuild!
Thanks for sharing your experiences and I appreciate the kind words. I hear you, I'm starting to lean more toward keeping the car, just enjoy it too much, and fiscally it would be more advantages to keep it.

The motor has cleared customs and should be at Gintani by Tues or Wens of next week.

Hey Drew, I heard the motor was dropped off at Gintani last Tuesday. Any updates or pics of the new motor going into your car? You building up the motor or staying stock? Cant wait to see more runs man!!!!

Any conclusions (firm or not) from the tear down of the old engine?

Correct me if I'm wrong -- but this is a used engine that's coming, correct?

Excellent questions, it appears Gintani is extremely busy right now, they needed some additional gaskets, etc. which had to be special ordered, so my car is not done yet, and I'm not sure when it will be, so unfortunately, nothing yet on the tear down.

You are correct, it's a used engine, with 5K miles on it, thankfully we got a great deal on it.

I can only imagine how badly you must want the car back -- I hope they can make the time to put in the new engine and get you back on the road this week.

Oh nice! 5k is hardly used - so u will be getting a newer engine
Could u PM me or post what they paid - I'm doing some research on used S65 engines and wanted to know what they are going for. Found one with 12k miles for $8k.

I could not find a motor in the US that was under $15K and both were hydrolocked. I found one in Europe, and I was lucky that it only had 5K miles on it, my motor was approx. $10.5K shipped. $8K is a steal for a motor with only 12K miles on it, as I'm sure you probably know they go for $26K new, and that's probably wholesale price.

10.5K is a pretty good deal on a S65 with only 5K. 26K for a new S65 doesnt sound bad either when comparing to other engines.
An M156 AMG V8 costs around $60K.

No one is insulting your intelligence. Just confirmed the V12 BITURBO engine is 60k not the M156. The M156 V8 is 35K-40K.
My mistake...
