Cool Thought I was set on a E93 335i, BUT!!!

Ok I currently have an Infiniti Fx35 which is prob my favorite all around vehicle I've ever owned. We also have an Imola Red M3 (SMG) so am very much a BMW fan.

So I orginally was trying to decide bewteen a 535i or an E93 335i, different enough cars on there own.

But then came pics and reviews of the C63 which really appears to be just a beast indeed, it should give the new M3 a run for its money on the twisty's. It will certainly eat it alive in the straights. Don't blast me its got an extreme amount of TQ the M3 will not have, so whether you like Benz or not deal with it.

Here is where the BUT comes in, the new Audi S5. Ok I'll go through what I see are it's CONS first:

-More exspensive then the E93 335i by about $8500 (though final pricing has not been released).
-Not as easily modified (speed wise) as the TT in the 335i.
-Fewer dealerships for service (especially if I move).
-Audi's reliability has not been the best in the past (though BMW is not either overall I am taking my M in monthly it seems for some small thing, and the 335I fuel pumps though hopefully fixed).
-First year model

Ok now PROS on the S5:

-S5's by far will be very few on the road (for next few years it will prob be 1 S5 to 5 335i) So having something unique on the road is very appealing.
-Faster stock then the 335i.
-The best interior for ANY car under $100k as has been stated in several reviews (even before the S5 I have considered the BMW nice but not exciting, the "less is more" is BMW)
-Sound, the high reving V8 will always sound hot.

I know I'm posting this on the E90 forums, and I know a lot of those on here are only about the Bimmer's but I am curious what those who cant see past the BMW only world will say.

I will be keeping the M3 if that matters, and still thinking about the C63.

If you got $60-$70k for a C63 or S5...go for it.
The S5 seems overpriced to me. Good looking car, but still...$60k+...ouch!

As far as the S5 goes, its not really much faster than the 335 stock. Look at the trap speeds. The S5 just gets a better launch, thats all...

I'd wait to test drive both, before deciding.

I think i'd go with the c63. That car will be a monster and i love how aggressive it looks. Only thing it lacks, BY ALOT, is the interior. Although i love the styling on the s5 and the interior is gorgeous.

When it comes time, i say just drive them all and you'll know which one suits you best.

If I had the money I'd take the S5. It's damn sexy, performs well out of the factory, and it has an amazing interior. I'd definitely get it in dark silver with a red interior...if only...

hey man,

If you were deciding between the 335 coupe and S5, I would say it's a no brainer. Looks like you can afford the bump in price, and the fact that it will be so much more unique than the ubiquitous 3 series makes it WELL worth it IMO. However, looks like you are interestes in the cabrio, you're talking about a whole different ballgame. Our cabrio is a beast, fast, the top is a piece of art (looks like origami when its folding), stands out, and there is NOTHING bettr than cruising with the top down on a sunny day or warm night. Especially if you keep thr infiniti, I think it would be a great combo.

The C63 would be an excellent choice too if you'd be willing to dish out the extra 15+ grand.

P.S. sorry if its bad typing - on my phone

good luck!

p.s., getting the 335 with coral red makes the interior look sooooooo much more unique and less bland (no offense to anyone, but you gotta admit the interior is pretty simple.)

coral + aluminum = winning combo imo

That's what I ordered. Saw the combo in my CA's sapph black e92 and was sold. It really adds some needed contrast and detail to the interior.

Thanks for the honest replies guys,

I was half expecting ot get blasted by even bringing up another make of car.

If only I could roll back time a year and a half ago, to not buy the M3. But noone knew the 335i was going to be such a good looker and a monster with the TT setup.

My main appeal for the 335 is the ease of modding.

Who knows what we'll get. I just had to put a deposit down for another English bulldog puppy (a female) Since Kristin has brought up baby talk to much lately. This should calm those feeling for a while. hehe

Every state seems to really be starting to crack down on speeders so maybe the S5 not being an insane beast of power isn't bad. I mean it was not designed to be or they wouldn't have made it so big.

Do you have a connection with MB? I don't and was told I could not get a C63 because I had no history with MB.

"the S5 is most at home on the highway while the 335 is at home on both the track and highway."

IMO it really depends on what you're after. I think the S5 is gorgeous, the C63 is a crazy machine, and the 335 is like a combination of the former two.
The S5 is really more toward the comfort side and less toward the performance side. I cant comment on the C63 but I know it'll be fast. The 335 has luxury, performance and ease of tunability. It really is a tough decision but I dont think you can go wrong with any of them.
