What the hell is the local BMW thinking? Have fun with your E92 M3 folks...
I guess you meant the M3 not 335i...

How many times have we seen this now. "Oh, I love the M3, I want it, crap it is way too expensive for me, oh well I'll just spend more on a Porsche."

Ugh, getting old. Pony up or bail out, stop whining then dreaming you can afford even more.

odd, the car strikes more purple than blue. it almost looks like ruby black from bmw individual. in the first picture you see the car is parked right next to a traditional black car, and the difference is plain as day. but in the following pictures of the jerez M3 in the garage, the color looks like a plain black... kind of lackluster actually.

thank you for the pictures UKM3. i can honestly say though, that i'm as confused as ever about what this color really looks like.

... and if this color looks anything like ruby black, i might just choose it over Alpine White.

Black ( 80%)
Pearl Blue ( 7% )

Light pearl blue( 4% )
Laser Green( 3% )

I really did not expect it to look purple... I'm getting more and more confused about this...

ukm3 - is there any chance you could get a picture that shows the CF roof in contrast with the paint? Cheers...

+1

It definetley looks rather purplish in the sun, and black inside. These are just low-res pictures though. It might leave a different impression in person. But based on what I've seen so far, I don't like it.

Thanks again for pictures!
Do you feel the pictures are close to how the Jerez Black look, or would you say the pictures are more or less purple than the actual colour?

Maybe you are misreading the sentiment or mispricing Porsches?

I was sitting in this car this weekend:

http://rietzl.porschedealer.com/new_...ntoryid=275240

PASM, Sport design wheels, BOSE (for better or worse LOL), Xenon, heated seats. MSRP $79,350. Easily done at $75K. Not the power of an "S" or an E92 M3, but still an amazing car, its a Porsche afterall, and exactly the same price as the M3 with equivalent options or so we assume.

An "S" with options that matter is about $91K. That's Metallic Paint, Sports Chrono and Sport Exhaust. Get rid of the Bose crap and it is under 90K. After discount you are probably at ~84-85K. With 10K of the M3 which won't discount in 2008. for those of us who can afford it, why would you not be considering it? Why not discuss it?

BMW is setting themselves up for this comparison, not the buyer.
