ESS Tune and 91 vs. 93 File

I'm starting to think about running a catless tune, either ESS or Dinan. In regard to ESS, if you have the 93 octane file and put 91 octane in the vehicle, will there be problems or will the timing simply retard with no other issues? Currently, I blend 91 and 100 in order to attain ~93 octane, but there are times when you have to go with strictly 91 octane in Cali.

Separately, is ESS software worth the $100 premium when compared to Dinan?

If you have access to 100 octane, constantly i would go with the 93.. If you go anywhere, youre always going to have to search for a VP or somewhere that sells 100 octane? IMHO, I would go with the 91 to be safe.

You can switch maps at anytime, in a minute or so.

It's way cheaper than either (while they have intro pricing)

You can also flash back to stock.

I love LMGTFY. It allows me to be helpful and to be a douche at the same time.

The E9X M3 ECU is fully adaptive. With or without our software the ECU will always adapt and run targets based on the fuel quality available. 91 or 93 the ECU will attempt to make as much power as it can safely.

So it sounds like I will be okay running the 93 file with occasional 91 fill-ups. Thanks!

Evolve FTW

got mine flashed today and DAMN. car is stock and runs at same stock quality but with noticeably more power.

oh, and its nice being able to go back to stock in around 5 minutes....oh and it was only $750...oh and best customer service of anyone I've ever dealt with.....and if you have any issues/add mods, you can email them your file and they'll remod it for you...and they change more parameters than most tuners so that you get a more stock-like feel.....

as you can tell i am very excited/happy with my tune but EVOLVE FTW

I will b getting a tune soon and am debating bt evolve and ess. Sending out the ecu isnt a big deal for me if the tune is better. So whichever one is better... I will get that one. Waiting for more results from evolve.
