Humorous exchange on youtube regarding M3 track video

I have a video posted on youtube of my final session of a BMWCCA HPDE at NJ Motorsports Park, Thunderbolt Circuit from a few weeks ago. I have the comments feature turned on so it's fair game on the internet. Here's an exchange between myself and a cyberspace self-appointed driving expert of unknown qualifications. I found it funny, so I thought I'd share it here. By the way, I'm assuming the person is not a native English speaker/writer.

Here's the link if you want to view it yourself:

-----------------------
vampiregt600 (1 week ago) to many faults in turns. But nice speed...

skierman64 (21 hours ago) What kind of faults are you referring to? Driving different lines to look for a better way through a corner, isn't a driving fault. Just curious, are you a driving instructor or just a critic?

vampiregt600 (18 hours ago) your shifting is bad. this is automatic transmission? what can be races with automatic transmission, maybe if u want to be a lastone. And not all turns is good. 5,6 turns to slow. 7 to long. 8,9,10 turns this is not look like at turns, very bad line....

skierman64 (15 hours ago) The fact that I was 1 second slower per lap than a Porsche GT3 on Pilot Sport Cups (the white car in front of me) proves to me that I was doing a lot of things correct. That combined with 2 days driving with an experienced instructor we experimented with various lines through the corners especially the 7-10 complex. I was on stock PS2s where I had to scrub a lot of speed on the slower corners. The transmission is BMWs dual clutch transmission, very similar to the tranny they use in F1.

skierman64 (15 hours ago) I have to ask, have you driven this track? Do you have actual track experience or is it all video game experience? I totally disagree with your assessment, and unless you've driven the track you can't really know the proper line.

skierman64 (15 hours ago) Nice speed doesn't come from bad lines or shifting.

vampiregt600 (14 hours ago) The talk is over

vampiregt600 (14 hours ago) Yes i play KAWASAKI zr6 underground =D u totaly rookie man.. Your car is great, but in your hands she only car. In the street im faster then u are in track. Keep your mouth shut up.

vampiregt600 (14 hours ago) In F1 using not automaticly shifting. U are slow because manual shifting faster ten automatic. Your turns line incorrect.

skierman64 (20 minutes ago) If you are ever on the east coast with a real car or motorcycle I'd love to follow you around the track so I can learn your cornering lines. I'm sure with all your hours sitting on your couch playing video games I could learn a thing or two about track driving from you.

skierman64 (19 minutes ago) Thanks for the advice

Your lines look pretty good to me for the most part.

(I have no track experience)

I'm no F1 driver but my times (except for traffic interference) were pretty consistent.

That's what I thought and therefore my comment about video games. Turns out my hunch was right. LOL

That Internet video game junkie is a moron! I've seen Skierman on the track in person, and he's an awesome driver.

Finally a reason to actually sign up for a YouTube account...

... to give a "thumbs down" -1 rating to the little prick's comments. If you have a YouTube account, I highly recommend it.

Oh, and nice driving, skierman.

Definitely your lines through 8,9 and 10 were all wrong.

Personally I feel if you were only a second slower than the GT3 driven half decently then you were well and truly ON IT.

P.S.
You as some of the others have commented on the downshifts, have you or anyone else tried shifting with the stick or even tried the modes without the throttle blip (i.e S2~3)?

That video was shot at the end of a 3 day drivers school and we had spent 3 days experimenting with different lines through 7,8, 9 and 10 and we didn't really discover an ideal solution for a stock M3, especially through 9 (the hard right hander before the 200 degree left hander 10 and 11). Turn 9 was the only corner on the track where the M3 couldn't mask its weight. Running R-compounds would really help at that corner because the PS2s just weren't grippy enough to take that corner very quickly. If I tried to take it a little faster the car would understeer like crazy, and when I tried to trail brake it seemed as if the speed was too low to rotate the car at turn in. In all reality though, turn 9 is a throw away corner and it doesn't effect lap times all that much, the important piece is to be at full power as early possible in 10 and 11 (the long left hander) in order to be flat out through 12, 13 and 14 and down the front stretch. There's no doubt the 7-11 complex is challenging and is the perfect excuse to return to NJMP to work it some more.

Regarding the DCT downshifting issue, using the stick or S-3 has no effect. It still won't downshift. The only place on the track I was having the issue was at the end of the front straight while braking from about 135+ to about 60ish. It wouldn't downshift from 5 to 4 to 3. I was having to downshift after turn in and before the apex. We need that software update soon.

The track had only been open for 3 weeks when this HPDE occured and only one instructor had even driven it before the weekend. Therefore the cones were set only as a rough estimated of the proper turn-in, apex, and track out points, however they were still useful to use as a reference point at each turn. I personnally didn't like where the track out cone was placed at turn 3, so I removed it by force. I can't give you the link to that video since I'm at work but it's also on youtube under skierman64.

The dude was pulling yer leg. Happens all the time. A legion of losers looking to engage in caustic rhetoric to while away the hours between sleep and video games. His attempt at bad english is a dead give away. Great video. Very nice driving. The track turned out to be an impressive layout. The bridge scares me a bit.

Well I'm not convinced you're right, however if you are right he got me to take the bait.

The bridge is in a high speed part of the track, but at least it's not in a difficult section of the track. It seems it could have been placed in a better area, however I can't say I thought about it too much while I was out there.

You know what's funny (to me at least!)....

I was thinking the apex cones were a bit late in a few corners. I was thinking, "those are Porsche apex cones!!". lol. Then to top it off, that guy made the same "late apex cone" comment! LOL. Funny shiat!

edit: Your lines looked good to me, although I do not know Thunderbird, other than watching the Rolex race I taped!
