Anyone prefer non sport steering on their ///M?

Just curious to know if any members who have M Drive actually prefer the non sport ie lighter steering on the M3? I personally never use it and find the sport steering to feel far better in all driving conditions....if anything i would prefer that the sport setting was the default (normal) and that there was an even stiffer/heavier setting for sport.
Also, does anyone know what the mode the steering is set in non M Drive cars, is it halfway between normal and sport or set at normal/sport......anyone know?

Can't answer your question but I have one that's related. Is it possible to change to sport servotronic without sing the M button? Meaning, we can change power and edc and shift speeds all separately but it doesn't seem to be the case with the servotronic and the only way to have the sport setting is by utilizing the M button. My car has been with me exactly 5 days so I could be missing something. TNA

based on driving my coworker car with tech package it feels like non-sport steering.

Sport steering it still to light at slow speeds and I thought a bit too heavy at high speeds when I first started using it, but I like it now though.

I believe you are correct.
I wish we could set sport steering to be default. But in a way it's kind of fun pushing the M-button and getting a different-feeling car in the respects that it changes, including the steering. Cause, I know if I could I'd have steering to be sport by default (Because it doesn't seem like it'd be uncomfortable for daily use like sport edc and sport+ throttle) and that would make M-mode less different+exciting.

SS134's question is one I've asked myself and feel it would be great to be able to wheight the steering up from the off.

I've said it before, I don't see the point of super light steering on an M3, after all it's not a car bought by old ladies, the weighted setting is still light enough, I'm old enough to remember no power steering at all.

I don't like the light feel of the normal (non-sport) servotronic setting, but I do keep it on that setting at all time. On a clear road, try moving the steering wheel back and forth quickly in both settings. You'll find (or I did, anyway) that the car is more responsive to the same steering inputs on normal than it is on sport. There's an ever-so-subtle delay between the time you whip the wheel back in the opposite direction and the time that the car actually reacts to that change in the sport setting that isn't there in the lighter normal setting.

Ordinarily, I don't like boosted steering at all, and I don't like that the M3's steering wheel doesn't communicate any road conditions up through the column, but I do find the lighter normal setting to be more responsive than the heavier sport setting.

Normal steering without the M button for me, Sport steering with the M button - 'nuff said.

Normal steering is nice when parking, etc. Sport for spirited driving, no question.

Interesting, i find the normal steering to feel less tight and have a small amount of 'play' at speed in comparison to the sport steering which feels much tighter and more responsive to me. I also find that it is harder to guage how much lock is requiered in normal mode when turning in.

First thing i do after starting the car is hit the M button to bring up my favourite settings - only thing i may change on the fly is the EDC depending on the road conditions. I have never felt the need to drive the car in any of the softer modes.....even if i am just going to the shop i'm in M mode!
I suppose that this lessens the affect of the M button as it has become my default but i want the car to feel like this every time i drive it and not just when i want to drive it hard.

I enjoy changing the car personality by hitting the M button. I drive on D5, Norm, power and my M settings are sport plus and MDM. this way I feel a difference when I need to. I don't want to feel "on the track" all the time but when I really am, the M button makes that loud and clear!

Off topic slightly, Sorry, but in EDC comfort mode, is it any softer than non EDC equipped cars, anyone compared?

I have no M button and no seetings,no EDC - just coilovers and 6MT. The way m should be

Comfort is softer than non-EDC cars and Sport is stiffer. Normal is pretty close to the non-EDC damping.
