I just supercharged my 2008 e92 m3 and I got smoked by a dct e90 m3 with same power. I was not in the right gear from a 60 roll but he got me pretty good. 3rd instead of 2nd. So if speed is all u care about then dct. Driving the cars before super charging I liked manual more. Manual is more fun day to day I think .

I have a manual m3 and a dct m5.... while of course it isn't possible to out shift a DCT, regardless of it being faster, it does take away that connected-ness to the car. My m5 is fast as shit stock, but it isn't always about being faster in my opinion. It's about the overall experience and with a manual in the e9x m3, the feeling of being one with the car can not be beat. Not to mention if I had DCT in the M3, I'd be having issues with it holding the power having twin turbo's. I'm running stock clutch and tranny as it is with almost 500lbs of torque and it handles it with no problems.

Love mine with DCT, I had a 3-pedal before but nothing feels better than knowing you will always be faster than a 6mt.

Well I prefer the MT when I'm at the Ring, Spa and Suzuka...DCT when I'm racing rice rocket guys in the hood, DCT at the beach fighting off the women, MT when blasting through tunnels and overpasses, DCT on the Autobahn, MT in Africa and Asia...
That's all I have to say about that...

I drove both before supercharging my 6MT and concluded that a supercharged DCT is boring.

The 6MT paired with a blower is a very raw experience.

Dct can be driven like a manual. Plus it ages well with your legs😂

That's unfortunate, I'm sorry to hear that!

Supercharged DCT is fun, but I think N/A DCT is much better.

If you're already considering on selling, just do it. You'll keep on contemplating it and wish you were in a 6MT. You might as well drive exactly what you want, especially since you can't put a price on enjoyment.

Pull the blower and swap it into a 6MT, or find someone willing to trade!

Nice old thread. After having ESS650 SC DCT for 5 years and now NA DCT for 4 years, definitely prefer NA. As of today's standards, even a modded SC M3 is really slow.

There's like a couple on the world that are quick but those are running 12+ psi with all of the supplemental mods like fuel system and custom tuning, alternative fuels like e85, manifold bracing, supplemental hose clamps (addressing boost leaks), methanol injection or water tanks, suspension/tires, etc.

On the flip side, a supercharged E9X M3 with a 6MT, pushing 600+ hp, is actually remarkably quick by today's standards when you compare it to the top of the line offerings with manual transmissions. Excluding 98 degree (F) days, my E90 is definitely quicker than my old modified C6 Z06. The C6 Z06, C7 Z06, and 2018 GT3 (manual) are all almost dead even in acceleration to 150 mph (17.0 to 17.5 seconds). Other than a 2019 manual ZR1, or a modified circa 2012 911 turbo (good luck finding one), you're not going to find "recent" cars that are quicker with manual transmissions. So from that perspective, a supercharged E9X with a manual is incredible.

DCT! The S65 mates perfectly with it. Looking to add 6mt to line up in another variant. Nothing like having best of both worlds.

I considered this same question. My buddy asked me "Would you rather microwave a steak or take the time to BBQ it?"

Harrop 6MT for life.

The question here is really, would you rather own an automatic with a supercharger or a manual? Most of the DCT...ahem...automatic owners would of course rather own an automatic. That way their wives can drive them too.
