Oh, and sunroof delete, so I expect a composite roof.

Nice!

Aside from the Power Sunshade, HD Radio and Enhanced Premium Sound, I'm looking at the exact same options

I may bag HD, but I am hoping that Enhanced Premium Sound is worth it.

I do find this absurd as well. What kind of a business practice is this?

I would agree, but at the same time don't want to miss this opportunity.

Perhaps the SA wanted to lock the sale and was afraid he might bail out last minute?

Or maybe the SA knows that DCT will be delayed and alot customers will delay their orders...i dunno thats just my crazy guess lol.

I don't blame you; if I was sure about 6MT, I would be all over my dealer right now, trying to get an order in as well. It's just a shame on BMW. In my opinion, it doesn't help their image.

I think it is mainly BMW trying to give away as little as possible to the competition. I can only assume MB is watching this situation very closely in determining their C63 pricing.

Ehhhh….HD Radio sounds kind of gimmicky to me. I get the local stations in fine reception and Sirius radio comes in perfectly too.

The Enhanced Sound System is probably going to be worth it, but I am kind of nervous as to how quickly options will add up, so that is one pricey option that I am willing to do with out.

I don’t think so. BMW knows what they are going to price the M3 at as does MBZ.

One thing I really like about MBZ is that they waste know time in releasing their AMG line when the standard car (base C, S, E, etc) comes out.

I am sure BMW knows its M3 pricing, and MB also has something in mind, but that doesn't mean that MB can't respond to BMW pricing if they thought there was a need and if they had advance knowledge of it. If you are competing for marketshare in a similar segment, pricing obviously counts big time.

How else can one explain the delay in the M3 pricing given they are beginning to hand out production numbers?

I hear you, but with the amount of R&D that BMW and MBZ have done in the past few years, I highly doubt that they could and would hold out any longer in changing their numbers based on the competitions numbers. That being said they always seem to be within a few K of one another anyways. This is probably based on what you are saying and also the fact that they are using relatively similar numbers and products in developing their cars so naturally they get priced accordingly.

How long did BMW delay pricing in the UK and Euro before they released their car? Plus I think DCT might have something to do with it. I personally would’ve figured that DCT would be available upon ordering so that might be holding things back. However since Devo ordered his today, maybe I am wrong.

I am 80/20 favoring a 6 speed. I may decide to go with DCT later, but I'm not so sure that I want to be first on that list. Also, I want to be certain that DCT will be a seven speed before I jump. So, yes I did want a conventional clutch manual.

I believe HD is to radio what HD is to television. However, there are currently not a lot of digital radio stations.

Good question. Maybe a Euro member can chip in?

Also, I remember hearing that the same thing happened with the E46 launch. Is that correct?

Im thinking we are VERY close to price release. Theres 4 months left until March, im sure pricing will be released either at the very end of this year or early January.

Another grats to Devo!

HD radio is so named to take advantage of what consumers know about HDTV. The difference in quality between a good FM station and HD radio is *much* smaller than the difference in quality between regular TV and HDTV. I personally wouldn't get it since I will listen to Sirius or my iPod most of the time (and radio in New Orleans sucks for everything except New Orleans music). HD radio used to prevent Real Time Traffic info on the Nav; I am not sure if that is still the case.

Yes it did when it first was released, but there are no longer any compatibility issues between HD Radio and RTTI

Cheers, Adrian

It was about 3 months, give or take.
