Modded E92 DCT M3 goes 12.04 @ 115.5 MPH

Went to a private track event yesterday, Famoso Raceway, and managed to get some decent times. Took me several runs to figure out what the best launch was with the DCT and the Nitto DR's.

The DCT has no problem heating up the Drag Radials, in the end I found the best way to launch was the same way I did it on my E46 M3 SMG, just mash the pedal, or "burnout" mode with the heated DR's and go.

I hit a handful of 12.0X's and some 12.1's and 12.2's, also had plenty of bad passes trying to figure out the launch, just missed that 11.9, probably not doable at that track unless the DA was -200, lol.

With full interior I hit 12.17, then I decided to take out the rear seats as everyone else was, and I ran slightly worse times at first, 12.2's and 12.3's. I let the car cool down a bit more, the sun went down and I hit four 12.0x passes back to back no cool down, 12.04 being the best, 60' was 1.81, 1/8th mile 7.78 @ 92.11 MPH.

There were 3 modded C63's there as well, awesome cars, ranging from 435-470whp, and I barely edged out the more powerful two of the three. Their best times were. 12.07, 12.1.

I also ran the vbox at the same time, and found that it is very close with ET's and Trap's, the MPH at Famoso was about .5-1 mph slower than the Vbox the ET's were pretty similiar. On the Vbox at sea level in 49-50 degree temps I have managed 117-119 traps and 93-95 MPH 1/8th mile traps, not sure why I couldn't hit those at Famoso or on the Vbox during the runs as the air was decent, but two of those C63's should have been trapping 120+, they were in the 115-117MPH and the 435whp tune only C63 trapped 114MPH. At Sacramento Raceway those higher traps might be doable, 11 second ET's certainly would be.

Fun event, awesome cars and I met a bunch of good guys as well. Big thanks to Mo over on MBworld.org for setting this event up.

Here's the slip-, it was actually 5:39 PM

If you could launch it at higher RPMs you could easily get a 1.6 60'

I tried Bro, the DCT didn't like it, it would hesitate, and the clutch would slip in and out, not sure why. But a 1.6 60' would have put me at 11.9!

Great run. The best I got out of my car has been 12.5 leaving everything in the car. I ran using the BBS LM Rs and Nitto tires. My 60 foot time was 1.9. How were you launching the car? I didn't think 12 flat would have been possible but now may someone can get into the 11s.

It was Great to meet you, thanks for the advice and Congratulations on hitting those times.

The tunes and the Nittos really showed how the M3 can hook up once it puts the power down

I was able to only hit 12.6 once and then a 12.9. After those runs in the beginning of the day, it only got worse. no matter what technique i tried (Flooring with Traction on then engaging M Button for Traction off, Launch Control, Flooring it, Holding the throttle half way) I was getting shit loads of wheel spin in 1st and 2nd gear sometimes. I was running in the 13's. Next time i come out, im gonna be running NT01 a square set up.

At the end of the day, I got smoked by a Blue S4 also, we went three times around and he kept getting Mid 12's and i kept getting Mid 13'. If i was able to hook it up, those would have been some very close races. Its funny how my first 3 runs were the best of the day (12.6, 12.9,13.0) and after i couldnt hook or grip for shit.

I had a blast though and it was fun meeting you guys and enjoying a saturday with our cars

NICE Drew,

now I really need to work on my shifting!! But we don't have a 1/4 mile in TW so just vbox runs only.

Once again, congrats to you and all of the M3 owners for a great job.
Does that mean you drove all the way out there and didn't run your 100K dollar car?????

I ran a 12.2 on 19" wheel and street tires!

Our DCT M3s are pretty solid on the drag strip

Thanks man, I heated the Drag Radials, then just mashed the pedal and it revs the motor and drops the clutch, not much different than the E46 m3 SMG cars.

Drew is the man for sure. I only wish I took DR's for my car it sucks not being able to get traction. Since I've never really been a Drag person since we always do roll ons and highway pulls in mexico I've never noticed how bad the M3 is with traction from a stop. I couldn't launch above 4k cause I'd spin hard in first and then more 2-3 you can totally feel it hold the times back. And thats with MDM on without MDM forget about it total spin fest. Either way I had good fun my first time out to a drag strip. I also saw how the DCT helps alot at the strip that other stock DCT did pretty good on street tires.

If I could have just hit a 1.7 60' and not spun on the 1-2 shift just about everytime, I might have hit that 11.9. The track prep was not as good as it could have been because it rained that morning, so the track was not as sticky as it could have been. On street tires it would have been very difficult, Splinter4784 stock DCT could not hook up on street tires, but he still managed a 12.6 at 111.

Awesome job! No way I could have pulled a 1.8 on street tires yesterday, or any day for that matter, lol, how did you launch it? Tire warmup, etc.

JM, appreciate that Bro, next time out bring some DR's and you'll hit some great times. Your car is still flying in Mexico.

It was the first time for me on the drag strip so I was experimenting. I almost spun out on the first run with LC when my tires were cold.. pretty scary.

I proceeded to run with mdm for a few more runs before putting it back on LC in the afternoon. Warmed up my tires the same way you did, Traction Control off and slam on the accelerator.. you could almost achieve a mini burn out.. small compared to the corvettes running 10s and mustangs running 9s on that day.

Weather was amazing though, 60s... so I think that played a role
