Springs and EDC....yet another

I've been looking at various threads regarding both eibach and H&R lowering springs and have come to realize there is no uniform decision as to whether they are "ok" for the car or not. I was wondering however if there is any way to reprogram the EDC system to adjust it in some way for different ride heights and spring rates. Also, going along with the school of thought that the springs will have a negative effect on the dampers, do both the eibach and H&R springs seem to have the same drop or does one ride higher than the other? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

H&R will make the car sit lower than the Eibach. I woldn't go with anything other than H&R's, can't go wrong with them. From experience i dont belive that they have a negative effect on the dampers cause H&R people made them to be compatible with the EDC so i think they took a lot of things into consideration to make sure nothing will happen to the EDC system or the dampers. My bro has H&R's on his M6 with EDC and it's a perfect set up...EDC won't do anything to the springs, it only controls the damping of the shocks this isn't a air suspention system...Go with H&R's money will be well spent...

I have had H&R's a few years back on a 3-series. At times they were a little bouncy. I say go with the Eibach, the drop isn't as low. I have read many good reviews on the M5 boards about the Eibach pro-kits, they ride like stock.

its not that it is compatible. eibach tends to be more on the safe side on thier products. for eibach, the front only drops .8 and the rear is .6 which is the same as h&r on the rear. i think both company came to the conclusion that .6 will not do any harm on the edc. i guess they do not agree when making the fronts. h&r is 1.3 on the fronts which is kinda conservative compare to thier race version. i assume h&r feels that 1.3 wont harm the edc function. i agree, the ride feels slightly softer but the edc will still work when you need it.

Longtran, where are you getting the 1.3 spec on the H&R? The H&R manufacturer site states that it's a 1" drop in the front.

you are right. i dont know why i said 1.3. i think i was thinking about h&r sports for e90 335.

So Eibach and H&R only differ as far as the drop in the front? In that case the Eibach might be the better choice as I already scrape a bunch at the stock height.

I went with the RDsport springs, lowers the most out of all the springs and looks fantastic.

i think autotalent carries them. they are 2" all around. i wish i can run this, but i know for sure edc will not be functional.

You should pay around 300 bucks for them, turner motorsport and evosport both have them.

Yep, that is the ballpark figure and don't pay more than 3-4 hours labor for install.

I initially had the H&R springs on my car before I got the coilovers, and I was very happy with them. The ride didn't feel too bouncy and it gave the car a much better stance. It was also nice that they worked with EDC. I've had H&R's on a lot of my previous cars and never had a problem with them.

Wow, I can't believe you scrape with stock height! lol. My coilovers are on the lowest settings possible and it is still very drivable. I hardly ever scrape unless I'm just being careless.

That's a possibility if they can prove that the springs caused an issue.

Wow, I can't believe you scrape with stock height! lol. My coilovers are on the lowest settings possible and it is still very drivable. I hardly ever scrape unless I'm just being careless.

I have a steep driveway and a lot of entrances to shopping centers and such have the initial steep little incline. I have to be careful at the stock height, I am sure I am not the only one.

Any way, I am having H & R's installed as we speak.
