Ya but ring times are not absoulute probably it wasnt done by the same driver and same day. I believe the 7:48 your quoting was done by Sport Auto but then Walter rohrl was able to get a 7:43 out of it so that tell you obviously theres other factors. I believe the new GT3 does a 7:40 and the new GT3 RS does a 7:33 if I'm not mistaken. Either way I'm pretty sure the RS is capable of slightly better times othwise they wouldnt make it.

The new GT3 made a 7:40, but I don't think there's a time for the GT3 RS yet. Still, IMO the GT3 RS isn't worth the higher price. Best regards, south

I was trying to appeal to your common sense. I have watched too many people drive cars that are clearly beyond their own natural talent and think to myself 'what a waste'. The M3 isn't in the same caliber of argument as the GT3RS, it's basic layout makes it a much easier car to control, something that couldn't be said for the Porsche.

I didn't find the 997.1S I drove last year and wanted to buy very rewarding at all.Au contraire... That's why I didn't buy it. And that's why I bought the M3.And wait for the 458 Italia and the lottery to come my way....

You only can buy a GTS directly from //M GmbH, not from your dealership. Holland will probably get 1 or 2 and my friend and my dealership ordered one, but I doubt it he will get 1 GTS at all. Now let's talk about 'exotic' |

Owned a 996 GT3. That car was more fun that the M. I imagine the 997 GT3RS is even more fun that my 996 was.
RS hands down... If it weren't for a 7 year old, soccer practice, etc, etc, I would have one.

Try driving a 997 GT3 and you will understand. There is nothing BMW can do to make an M3 feel that good.

Porsches are so expensive in Taiwan i have to save up. We have to pay $223,000 USD for a normal GT3

what is this gt3 hijack. question is gts v gt3rs, it's irrelevant of what you think the value of the rs is over the gt3, if any at all.
at the same price this becomes pretty simple in favor of the rs, it does everything better (assumption). sure there are cars at the same price that you'll like more but two track focused cars should pretty much be compared by their performance. |

There is a world of difference wanting this cars as a object of desire, the need to own something this quick and actually using it's potential to the full. So while you think it's justification that there is an RS version over and above the GT3 and as such it the one to have I on the other hand look at it differently and think the diminishing return in outlay vs performance over the GT3 is such that it's a total waste. But then what do I know, Ferrari have made a bloody good business out of convinced people that this kind of performance is what everyone should strive for and is achieveable to them once they have it. |

No, I don't think I can lap quicker in the RS vs the normal GT3 but as the question is posed lets not get too far off track here. It's a question of GTS v GT3RS, not whether the extra cost of the RS is justified over the GT3 for an everyday joe.
My apologies in that I'm just getting tired of reading the forums with every topic seeming to get quickly off topic especially with the comparisons. I'm surprised that we're not arguing about the differences between the cayman and a c2s so far. |

I'm pretty sure the GT3 RS exists for homologation purposes. The GT3 RSR that races in ALMS uses the widebody chassis, so there needs to be a street car for it to be based on.

RS for sure. FYI, a very well optioned RS would cost about $155K tops (US). That's excessively optioned. It already comes with $3k buckets, Dynamic Engine Mounts and some other goodies. Add PCCB's for $8800, Full Leather for $3200 and maybe $3500 for the front lift to the $132,800 sticker and you're good. You'd have to add $3k in special paint and a few other goodies to get to $155k. The average RS will MSRP @ $145k.

I'd take a GT3 (non RS) over the GTS any day!! Not to mention an RS would literally run circles around the GTS.
