Come on Epacy, source (or the BAN ... jk). The number sounds suspiciously low to me, almost impossibly low. That is barely enough to have one per US state and certainly not even enough to even get 1 car to the top 20% of the dealers country wide.

Although it does sound a bit "BMW-ish". Make initial supply very scarce to crank up demand very high.

dude, no offense, but Sony and PS3 have nothing to do with BMW and the M3. also, that was a terrible strategy that turned out disastrous for sony. I think you are missing the mark here.

My dealer (fairly large) says they got ONE initial allocation. I'm thinking these are "demo" cars that the dealer may choose to sell, as mine has. Whether every dealer is getting one is the question. With the E46 every dealer got one Smurf blue factory-spec'd. M3, if you recall.

Nah, it did look like a Smurf. It wasn't a bad color though.

I posted this in another thread, but I'll say it here too. I got this from my dealer yesterday in an email:

Quote:
We are starting to get allocation on the Launch cars,

Please review the attachment to get your colors and equipment preferences...

Thanks,

Lloyd
I didn't notice yesterday he specified launch cars...I guess that means the same type of launch cars a few folks bought in the UK..?

And here's the ordering guide he sent me

Just got an email back from my dealer. He said their first car will be a demo, and the first "few" cars will be the owner's, as thats his right. After that, clients' orders will roll through. :sad0147:

What? How many cars does the owner need? One M3 is not enough?

Best regards, south

Yea im guessing the first initial batch will be "demo" cars for the dealers. Perhaps thats maybe why the number is so low. I just hope i can get a car before September of next year....

Epacy's info about only 54 cars during the first allocation might be correct. It appears that only large dealerships are getting one right now. Mine is fairly new and somewhat small, and he told me they will get theirs in January.

There will be plenty of M3s come spring and early summer, I'm really not worried. The 50 or so allocations are probably for launch cars. I would expect full fledged production just a few weeks after that.

My dealership isn't really a large dealership and they got one. Not sure the rhyme and reason they use to hand them out.

My dealer muttered something about getting a White M3 coupe and Red M3 Sedan for their launch cars. These launch cars have apparently being configured by BMW NA, and were not allowed to be changed. He didn't indicate when he was going to get them though .... or any update on allocations ..... mmmm ......

You didn't get Rasmussen to cough up a base price, did you Greg? Also, what saleperson are you working with there?

well i feel a bit relieved thats its only cars for the dealers to show to the public. Im sure we will get more cars that will be sold to the buyers.

Scott Bradley. No, in fact he said they might not have pricing until late January, which I find very hard to believe.

I'm sure they'll up the allocations seriously in January. So, we really are looking at these things showing on our shores in quantity sometime late February.
