BMW CCA San Diego Chuckwalla Valley Raceway, March 16-17 2013

Register here.

Chuckwalla Raceway is one of the few NEW tracks in the area and if you haven't driven it, doing it with BMW CCA San Diego is one of the BEST ways to get yourself acclimated to high performance driving! Chuckwalla combines a lot of interesting features, including a high speed banked oval, on camber and off camber turns, increasing AND decreasing radius turns, with moderate elevation changes (compared to other Southern California tracks).

This event will be combined with a club race, so it promises to be lots of fun spectatin' between your run sessions. And due to the club racing format, the available student spots will be in short supply, so sign up EARLY!

Do you know if it's going to be CW? or CCW?

Looking forward to this and hoping we can skip the sand storm this year.

I don't recall where I read it, might have been on the instructor call-out, but I'm pretty sure it's clockwise. They alternate and last year it was counterclockwise.

That weather was freaky last year.

Thanks for confirming the direction.

Even with the "less than perfect" weather last year, it was a blast to run and also to watch the club race. I couldn't believe how fast they were going with such limited visibility

This could be possible.
It'll be the first time for me. I heard the bathrooms were challenging.

I think the sandstorm was the most challenging part last year. They're supposed to have permanent restrooms now.

You should come. The track is so much fun.

Bathrooms were not a problem. At last year's event, they had bathroom facilities on one of those portable trailers that you see at a lot of the races. Running water and flushing toilets. No port-potties.

Will most likely sign up for this event.

Make it happen! Great track, great price. It'll be new for me too because they ran the opposite direction last year.

Also, I am reminded that there's a big tennis tournament going on that same weekend in Palm Springs and hotel rooms are hard to come by, so book the rooms early!

Can't wait until next weekend. Looks like it will be hot though - 92-95 degrees. Hopefully no wind.

Damn. Did not expect that this time of year. It was cold last year. Yes, praying for no wind/sand/dust!

So excited for this!

My weather app is forecasting 87 and 85 for the Sat/Sun highs @ Desert Center. Let's hope it is more accurate than the others! That's plenty hot.

Google is saying 93 and 88 with 7-9 MPH winds. Hopefully no sandstorm this year!

Don't know if any of you guys were at Autoclub Speedway with Speed Ventures a couple weeks ago... Sunday was crazy windy! We had to close the garage doors just to keep it reasonable. We won't have that luxury at Chuckwalla.

I'd take "hot" at 90+ vs. the sandstorm craziness of last year.

I was at ACS that day, and yeah, the wind was pretty bad. But, judging from last year's bliblical/epic sandstorm Chuckwalla video, apparently not as bad. I almost expected Charlton Heston to appear in said video.

Late to the thread, but I'll be there in the E90M3. Trying out a new peelable protective coating so that'll be good. Also some nice PFC08's all around.

If any of you are in the B/C group, you'll see me. I'll be the one standing in front of you yammering on about 'the line', 'being smooooooth', 'looking through the corner', 'of course 5-bet shoving w/any two cards in that spot is a good play' , and other vital info.

At least this year I won't have had knee surgery 2 weeks before the school like last year...

It's gonna be chilly being only in the 90's. I'll have to wear a sweater.

See you there!

Which coating are you trying? The paint on one that was discussed in the thread on here?
