Any dangers in assuming a lease?

A friend of mine is considering assuming a lease on a BMW, and was wondering if there is any risks or caveats to be aware of. Any thoughts?

I'd check out the car in detail first. If there was a problem (say dents, scratches, bends, etc) then your buddy would be responsible to correct it when turning the car in at lease end. That happened to a guy at work... assumed a lease and found out the rear bumper had been cracked. He had to fix it at lease end.

Before you take over the lease, have it taken to the dealer it will be returned to and have them do an assessment. That's the best way to make sure there aren't any surprises. Plus you'll probably also be able to get the service history at that time.

^ This. You don't want to get stuck with unknown damage when the lease comes due.

service history is important, having the dealer check it out is also important. and then i would say you are ok

Personally I think it's more important that you find a competent mechanic that you can trust, in addition to the dealer. While the dealer can do the majority..I feel like they often overlook or skip on things.
