rear spoiler deletion question

Should I have ordered this? I still have time to add it on I believe becuase I just got my production number last week ...

what do most people do?

Does anyone have a pic of theirs with the factory spoiler ?

If you plan on adding a performance spoiler or any aftermarket spoiler, it would be easier to just get the rear spoiler delete option. I totally forgot to check that option on my order so the day of when I was installing the performance spoiler, I spent a good 20-min removing the OEM one and all the adhesive.

No biggie if you don't check that option.

I got my sedan without the spoiler because I like the look better that way. Spoiler looks stuck on to me (wich it is actually).

Nice. I wanted to take mine off but I'm scared it may be discolored underneath or something after being on for 4+ years.

Do it. Worst case, just get some 3M adhesive and slap it back on. It's easy

Yup, just a little bit of elbow grease and you can get the crap off with out harming the paint.

I ordered mine without spoiler. I'm a bit lazy and live in the condo and therefore no real room to work on the car, I have OEM CF waiting for car to be delivered.

I personally really like the look of a spoiler on this car. I prefer the ZCP carbon fibre one which I plan to get some time, but the original lip spoiler is tasteful and portrays a little more aggressive stance.

OP - Very few M3's you'll see have the spoiler delete option, so any pic of the car you find (one in above post excepted) will have the spoiler

Agreed

On dark cars the CF performance and on lighter cars I like the performance painted. Makes for a very sharp looking rear.

Does the basic spoiler have any effect on performance?

I would think the basic spoiler is purely cosmetic

+1 yea I couldn't imagine it having any effect like a wing or something like that.

I think the spoiler is a must, whether it's the stock or the CF OEM. One of the reasons I'm not a fan of the E93 is because it doesn't come with the spoiler.

OEM spoiler has like 7 or 8lbs of downforce on the rear. Nothing to get too excited about. I am in the 'prefer no spoiler camp' as well...

The point of the rear lip spoiler is to reduce rear lift at high speed (you need a wing to get downforce - picky I know but thems the facts)...not going to make much difference at sensible speeds.

It's actually functional but at outrageous speeds. The only reason I haven't deleted is because of functionality. The car looks better without it IMO.

i chose the factory delete because i am installing the OEM CF one. why waste an hour removing the factory one when you can order the car without it. i certainly am not going to take it off to try to sell it. mine came like the one in the picture above.

The rear panel of my trunk is always filthy first- I wonder if retaining a spoiler would redirect air flow and lessen this effect.

I had the performance spoiler installed at Turnermotorsports and it literally took the tech 5 mins to remove. I believe he used a heat gun and some fishing line. I saw the bumper witt the spoiler off and it was very clean after a few passes with a moist towel.
If you know for sure you want another spoiler and are not going to install it yourself then just click on the spoiler delete. It will save you some labor time charges.
